Dr. Mather repaired my hip labrum today - he said it was a large and significant tear which is validating because that fucker hurt! Not sure if any of you can relate but I feel like I deal with pain so regularly that I feel like people probably think I’m a wimp because I talk about it so much while at the same time just carrying on. At least when a MD makes a comment like that I think ok well maybe I’m not a wimp after all. Going to be a tough recovery but I’m so grateful for his expertise - he’s one of the best in the world. He also has the best PA Alan who has been taking good care of me leading up to this. All in all I’m extremely grateful to them and also my amazing wife @colleen.3862 for having my back. taken in Duke Health by @amanda.gil9822

Sharing some happy news - I am transitioning to a new position within Duke that will be fully remote. I’m grateful to have been chosen after some diligent manifestation and positive thinking so I can hopefully control my work environment and help my migraines get under better control. I feel very fortunate to have been able to follow the flow to this position in the patient engagement center and hope it’ll be as fulfilling as my last seven years in Radiation Oncology. I’ll miss some of the best coworkers though so it’s bittersweet! by @amanda.gil9822

Jack’s tumor was a mast cell tumor - but non aggressive with only a 2% chance of recurrance! Thank you @southernanimalhospital and @quartetvet esp Dr Gallagher for the excellent surgery and care of Jack. 🥰🥰🥰 by @amanda.gil9822

I get to meet one of my all time favorite musicians this week - Brandi Carlile. I had to make her something as a gesture of thanks for her music helping me heal especially this past year. I read she has a nice boat and rushed back from the last leg of the tour to go out for the first day of halibut season - so I made this funky halibut fish mini for her. I hope she gets a kick out of it :) by @amanda.gil9822
