Ironman 70.3 Jönköping. From signing up six months ago, with two new disciplines to learn properly, to the start line yesterday, I don’t think anything could’ve fully prepared me for it.

If there’s anything I take with me from this race, it’s to keep going when it gets hard and to keep moving forward even when things scare you. Because it will get better.

The race itself was raw – but also incredibly rewarding. Swim started out rough, but I found my way after a few hundred meters. But it is true, everything they say about the Ironman open water swim. It was a battlefield. Bike course was beautiful but brutal with rain and thunder for most of it. If I ever do this again, I pray for better weather so I can truly enjoy it and not ride in fear for parts of it. The run was all about managing the hip and just enjoying the last bits of this insane day. As expected, nothing compares to the feeling of running down the red mat finish line. Once again, I reminded myself that I really can do hard things.

A big thank you to my family and friends who came out to cheer for me. Honestly, being rich in life is having a support system that stays out in the rain just to see me running past them for just a few seconds. I got a sign, a megaphone and my nephews running themselves tired to high-five me every chance they got 🥹 I truly feel so grateful, and it’s kind of insane how much five seconds of someone cheering you on can actually change your mental state mid-race. Also, thank you to everyone who has written to me. I haven’t gotten to reply to you all, but I see you ♥️ by @amanda.printz
