And here’s the gorgeous blown glass stuff we got. I couldn’t pass up the jug! It’s so beautiful and one of a kind. They had made it at a demo at the Renaissance festival where they usually sell (not this year because it’s under new ownership sadly) I couldn’t decide between their gorgeous pumpkins or the flowers … ended up getting the flower to go on a shelf in my plant room and Lake gets the cute spider

Love when the Arboretum has local artists selling their beautiful work! It’s their fall festival and there were several amazing stalls. Couldn’t pass up this beautiful mug and vase from one of the stalls. We also got some lovely hand blown glass ornaments from a different artist. A flower for me and a spider for Lake taken in Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden by @amanda_shafer

My baby boy turns 3 today!! Where has the time gone?

He got to visit his favorite people at his favorite store, Hollywood Feed, where he got lots of treats and Mommy bought him toys and treats. And Mr Steve at Hollywood Feed gifted him the cookie and birthday hat (because Loki is his favorite customer - naturally)

Happy Birthday at the Rainbow bridge Fargo … and that entire litter of very special puppies!! I miss him so much every day!! I know he sent Loki to me to help heal my broken heart but there’s a giant Fargo size hole that will never be filled. by @amanda_shafer

Mornings and evenings are starting to cool off now. So the boy is loving it!! As always he’s ever so helpful (and hopeful) when I’m in the garden … he does love his sticks!! My old dead mulberry came down with the weight of the Evergreen Wisteria I had growing up it. So I had to cut it back and now wait for Mike to build the arbor I got a few years ago by @amanda_shafer

Our sweet old man Desmond. He’s now 15 and our last surviving California pet. Des came to us at 6 weeks old from our old vet office. by @amanda_shafer

Rainy day with cooler temps … Alanna talked me into making hot chocolate - we use Abuelita’s Mexican hot chocolate and I add extra cinnamon with a dash of vanilla to it. Enjoying it in my favorite mug from Sri Lanka that I got last year by @amanda_shafer

Free water falling from the skies!! It’s been so long since we’ve had some decent rainfall. Dragged out some of my precious indoor plants and the Hoyas that are on the front patio under cover. There’s more plants by the garage too 😂 sadly I have way too many plants indoors to be able to get everything out for a good soak.

My Monstera Albo is pretty much my pride and joy!! She’s a gorgeous girl with lovely marbled variegation that’s very stable by @amanda_shafer

Saint Peter’s Square!! Chills being here, after seeing it on tv so many times over the years, to actually stand there was pretty amazing.

Funny story though, we had booked a Vatican tour, didn’t read the tickets closely, turns out we were supposed to meet at the museum entrance!! It was about .6 miles (1km) so we then had to rush over to the other side with my poor mother who can’t walk fast!! But it was the best mistake, because otherwise we’d have missed this as the tour doesn’t bring us here.

Visiting Italy has been amazing and while we enjoyed the sights and the food, catching up with our hostel friends after 30+ years has been the highlight. Only those we were in the hostel understand the ups and downs of those days. We made the best of it and tried to find joy in the little things!

Thank you Ajani Akki for taking time from your very busy schedule to come visit us. It was truly wonderful to see you again and to meet your beautiful older daughter and her husband. Best wishes to all of you taken in Rome, Italy by @amanda_shafer
