Reclaiming the Feminine.

🌹. A core task in a woman's Journey through life is to discover and then integrate the feminine principle which has been repressed over countless centuries. It's an antidote to the masculine principle whose qualities have dominated our cultural discourse here in the West for far too long. We need the feminine to balance out that dogged drive for success and progress, and devotion to intellectual, rational and goal oriented traits.

🌹 Feminine qualities of relatedness enable us to appreciate and live in harmony with other humans, as well as the other than humans who share the planet with us. They enable us to appreciate the rhythms of the natural world, as well as the rhythms of our physical body and the cycles and seasons of our lives. These qualities of the feminine principle also include, feeling qualities traditionally associated with the heart and the soul.

🌹 But reclaiming the feminine isn't just about embracing all the things which make us feel good, we need to encounter the Dark Feminine too. This isn't necessarily the negative aspect of the feminine, rather, it's the expression of the very necessary creative and chaotic energy which allows us to experience the full range of women's mysteries.

🌹 This card invites us to delve deep to uncover our inner source of female wisdom and to embrace our own unique creativity and life giving qualities, in the spirit of both our own growth and our service to the world. 🌍🌹💜

Stone Circle. The Sacred Landscape. 🍂🌿🌄

The Rooted Woman Oracle by Sharon Blackie 💜

🌄. Our ancestors constructed a surprisingly large number of stone circles throughout Europe.
Research suggests that they functioned both as astronomical observatory and as centers for ceremony. These two functions are related to each other: stone circles represent the ancient belief that celestial objects and their cycles of movement might exert subtle influences on human behaviour, as well as on the health and wellbeing of the Land below. Our ancestors believed in an interconnected cosmos in which we are part of a complex living whole. This card then reminds us of that interconnectivity.

🍄. The ceremonies which took place at such sacred sites are likely to have been associated with specific times in the cycle of the solar year, many stone circles are aligned with the position of the Sun at equinoxes or solstices. Our ancestors lived in a way which celebrated the cycles and seasons of the land, of the natural world of which they were part, and of the living cosmos around them.

🌠 This card emphasizes the need to recognize and honour the cycles and seasons of our own bodies and our own lives. The body is also a sacred site, in what ways might you bring yourself into greater attunement with yours? How might you recognise its need for rest at certain times and delight in its strength and energy at others? The body in a very real sense our soulmate. Our journey through life depends on it, that body is literally the ground of our being. This card invites us to consider that ground as sacred.

River. Flow.

The Rooted Woman Oracle by Sharon Blackie 💜

🏞️. Rivers and Springs, the old stories tell it, have their origins in the Otherworld and carry with them it's life giving nourishment. In European myth and folklore, they're closely identified with divine women who are present in the waters flow.

From the perspective of a map, the path of a river might seem to be fixed, but the truth is that they're dynamic beings. A rivers course will shift and flex during its lifetime and it's water will swell or diminish from day to day. Sometimes a river will rise and break free of its banks, casting off all that restrains its inexorable flow. It's the ultimate in flexibility, but it's strength must not be underestimated; when rock meets water, it's rock that always eventually gives way.

A river is a silver thread, snaking through the land. She's everywhere and nowhere, she travels on past us, but still she remains. She's the flow of all our longings, the flow of inspiration that propels us through this life. She knows exactly where she's headed- from the very beginning, she's always on her way home to the sea. The river always leads you home, if you can only bring yourself to trust the flow of life as it carries you onward.

🏞️. This card invites you to trust that the flow of life life, to stop resisting and believe that the course you're taking- though often it will twist and sometimes it will turn back on itself, will eventually lead you home. 🌄💜💚🍁

Well. The Source of Life. 💚🍁

The Rooted Woman Oracle by Sharon Blackie 💜

Wells in the native tradition of Britain and Ireland have their roots in the Otherworld, they are gateways between worlds. The water which flows from them offers up Otherworldly nourishment- not just physical but Spiritual. Because of that, wells were recognised as sacred, just as they have been by nearly every culture on the planet and throughout every age. These wells and springs which originated in the Otherworld would once have been dedicated to Sovereignty, the Goddess of the land who bestowed the gifts of the Otherworld.

The gifts of the wells are many. Some were known for their healing powers, others for granting fertility. Magical fish which lived in the wells- salmon or sometimes trout - might appear to those who would come seeking insight and foreknowledge. These fish are credited as granters of iomas, a form of intuitive knowledge and wisdom which is the Otherworlds greatest gift.

The water of the well, then, is the source of life and Spiritual Wisdom. But the Source of Life must be cared for, a good well must be tended. If you neglect a well, you're also neglecting the Soul of the Land, you're your own Soul and what nourishes it. The Well card invites you to replenish and renew yourself in the freely given waters of life- but also asks you to respect and treasure their source. In the spirit of reciprocity we offer in return our love and our gratitude for all in this world that upholds us. 🍁💚🐬🌲💟

Forest. Finding the Path. 🌲🍁🍂

The Rooted Woman Oracle by Sharon Blackie. 💟

🌲🍁 The forests of northern Europe fairy tales are dark, dangerous places, abundant with disconcerting shadows and populated by tightly packed trees. They represent a world beyond the village, the community, an Otherworld, steeped in myth and magic, which lies outside of normal human experience. Usually the dark wood is the home of witches and monsters, personifying all the fears of the collective unconscious.

When you enter the forest, you're accepting the inevitability of transformation. Something is going to change. Something may be lost, but something - if you embark on the journey with a true heart and a willingness to learn -- will always be gained. This card invites you to trust in the bone-deep alchemy of metamorphosis and to take the plunge onto the unknown.

Once you find yourself caught up in the formidable entanglements of the forest, it's not always clear- especially when choices have to be made- which path should you take. Often it's the overgrown path - the one that looks to be the darkest, the least promising- which will lead you to what you're looking for. And sometimes there's no obvious path at all and you're forced to forge your own way through the trees.

Even in the loneliest of forests, though, there are allies and helpers to be found - if you're paying attention. But be sure to look closely and don't jump to the obvious conclusion. A wolf isn't always going to eat you, and the old woman carrying her basket of berries isn't always a witch. Treasure the tiniest traces of light because even in the darkest forests there's hope to be found. 🌲💜🍁🍁

Bean Feast. Womens Wisdom

The Rooted Woman Oracle by Sharon Blackie.

🍁 The Wise Woman- the Bean Feast literally the 'woman of knowledge' is a key figure in Celtic Folklore. She's a powerful healer whose methods extend beyond the practices of herbalism which are typically associated with the wise women of other traditions. The Bean Feast would act as an intermediary between people and the Otherworld, so incorporating into her practice elements of both spiritual guide and modern therapeutic psychologist.

The Bean Feasa's close association with the Otherworld can be seen as shamanic in nature, involving visits to the spirit world in order to return with gifts and knowledge. In this way she was able to establish not just communication, but a kind of equilibrium between the two worlds which would in turn foster moral and spiritual equilibrium within her community.

🍁 As an ally on our Journey the Bean Feasa's offers us the old ancestral and spiritual wisdom which teaches us how we might live in balance in the world and how we might live in harmony in our communities. She reminds us to listen to the whisperings of the Otherworld and shows us how to discern the true meaning and nature of events and situations, with all their multiple interconnections. With her help we can discover the wisest courses of action and the wisest decisions to take, along our path

Cailleach. Protector of the Wild. 🌄

The Rooted Woman Oracle by Sharon Blackie 💜

In Irish and Scottish folklore, the Cailleach is the divine hag, the creator goddess of the land who gives shape to the Earth throughout all its long ages. Stories tell of how she constructed enormous mounds and megaliths in a single night, and of how she shaped the hills and the mountains and caused great lakes to form.

Like the cycles and seasons of the natural world over which she presides, the Cailleach renews herself constantly, each year in spring or every hundred years and usually by bathing in a certain body of water. But above all the Cailleach is presented as the fierce protector of the earth and the Guardian of its balance. She ensured that humans could not take more than the land could give. Hunters had a great respect for her and if they followed her instructions on which deer to cull and when, she ensured that they were always provided with enough food and pelts

In those troubled times and challenging environmental conditions, we women need to embrace our inner Cailleach, to stand up for the integrity and health of the wild places and creatures of this world. The Cailleach is our ally in this work, teaching us that we heal the land, and the land is us and reminding us also that to grow into an Elder is to become strong, as enduring as the beautiful old bones of the Earth.

Elen. Pathmaker and Guide.🌠

The Rooted Woman Oracle by Sharon Blackie.

In an old Welsh story called 'The Dream of Mascen Wledig', Elen the Otherworldly princess of Britain appears to the Roman emperor Mascen in an Aisling, a dream-vision. She acts as a guide, captivating him with a vision of a beautiful land across the waters and a beautiful woman there with whom he instantly falls in love with. And so Ellen reels Mascen along the thread of her dream-paths, bringing him to her so that he can marry her and serve the land alongside her as its king.

The story tells us that it was Elen who built the so-called Roman roads which joined up, for the first time, the various remote regions of the land. The story firmly states that the men of Britain would have been allowed the roads to be built for no one but her, because she was 'native to the land', the lands representative. Elen like so many other female characters in Celtic mythology and story, is a representative of Sovereignty, the Goddess of the Land.

The building of these great connecting roads is the reason why Elen has now come to be seen as an ally on our Journey, a native goddess and guide who helps us to dream into being our own unique pathway through life. Look for her in your dreams. 🌄💜 taken in Killiney Hill Park by @amandadheart

Sovereignty. The Power of the Land 🏞️

The Rooted Woman Oracle by Sharon Blackie.💜

Celtic mythology is highly goddess centred, the creative essence of the universe was female and women represented the spiritual axis of the world. But above all, the Celtic Divine Female in her various incarnations was deeply grounded and rooted in place, indivisible from her distinctive landscapes. They are manifestations of Sovereignty, a quality of the GODDESS of the land who was it's guardian and protector. Sovereignty was the spirit of the Earth itself, the anima mundi, a deeply ecological force.

The power of Sovereignty was paramount. During the reign of a king favoured by the goddess, the land was fertile and prosperous and the tribe was victorious in war. But if the power she bestowed was abused, then the people invited disaster.

Sovereignty is an ally who reminds us that the land must be respected. While there's mutual respect between the goddess and the king, the land and the people, nature and culture, feminine and masculine, then life is filled with abundance. But when we refuse to live in balance and fall out of harmony with the world around us, the fertile land becomes the wasteland. In this context, Sovereignty also reminds us that the source of our power as women - and the image of the Divine which lives within each of us - comes from the land. We must now become it's guardian and protectors.💜🌲 taken in Killiney Hill Park by @amandadheart

The humpback whale can be very energetic when launching its huge body out of the water in a breach and then falling back. Breaching maybe an act of play, or it could have some social meaning. Notice the fully white whale under the breaching whale. Albino humpbacks are extremely rare. Migaloo, or 'white fella' is the name Australians gave to the first albino humpback whale seen in their waters. When Migaloo was first sighted, he was thought to be the only white whale in the world. A white calf believed to be his offspring, had now been spotted. Seeing Migaloo is considered a blessing and a sign of luck. 🐋🐋🐋🌍 taken in Killiney Hill Park by @amandadheart

Shared inspiration.🐬🐬🐬

💜 Throw yourself into a shared project. Be willing to let go of time constraints and rules and really be aware of whatever fulfils your heart.💜

Whispers of the Ocean Oracle by Angela Hatfield

💟 This is an action oriented time. You may feel incredibly inspired and enthusiastic about pursuing a new idea or project. You may feel all keyed up and ready to go. Use your creative energy and passion to take the first steps to get your project on track. Express your artistic self. What are you wanting more of in your life? You are presently in a time of invention, new dimensions, curiosity, trust and playfulness. Play is an essential part of the dolphin's way of life. Like the dolphin be open, breathe and stay in harmony with your surroundings. Balance your daily life and let go of stress.

Bottlenose dolphins like all dolphins, enjoy mingling and frolicking. Dolphins will play with small objects, such as leaves or a bit of seaweed, catching it on their nose or fin. They play with other members of their family or pod, chasing each other in a flurry of spins and spirals. In this way dolphins show you the importance of being present and in the moment.

Mother dolphins will nurse their young for up to two years. This emphasises the importance of surrounding yourself with those whom you cherish. Sometimes, being immersed in the energy of family members or a close group of friends can be vital to a creative endeavour. Whether they are like minded individuals or playing the devil's advocate, trust that there is much to be gained from sharing your ideas with someone who has proven their belief and support of your vision. 🐬🐬🐬💟 taken in Killiney Hill Park by @amandadheart
