The first note to myself I scribbled down on @cheesegal’s proposal was that her mom is Darci with an i. If you know my mom, Judi with an i, I need not explain any further. The instant Cortney and I started chatting, we connected way beyond that little detail. Though she’d gone viral for her bougie snacks (Couch Caviar, sign me up) and cocktails (Mile High Martini, cheers), I knew she had so much more to share, and her Weak-Night Dinners and When to Wow meals proved that. Yes, this book has amazing recipes and yes, it has impeccable vibes, but it’s also laugh-out-loud funny. Imagine a country music star on a perpetual vacation to the Italian coast—like, fried chicken on a Ginori plate—and that’s Cort. Spending time with her and her wonderful family (Darci included) has been gratifying. Delivering the news (in person!) that after SO much hard work, she hit the New York Times bestseller list was such a joy. Have you ever seen @carochambers and Superwoman in the same place at the same time? She handed in her manuscript days before giving birth to her fourth son and revised it just weeks post-partum. (I heard her editor even made her rewrite one of the recipes, like, three times.) She was on set at a photo shoot seven weeks later and managed (most of) a kitchen renovation for lifestyle shots a month after that. She has been all over the country meeting her fans, signing thousands of books, and killing it on national TV. Did I mention she runs a mega-successful newsletter in her spare time? This is a woman who does not feel like cooking!!!! And thank goodness for that, because she’s found a way to make dinner a better experience—and to make it fast—for all of us. I am so lucky to work with Caro (if only because I get her recipes early) and to call her a friend (if only because we share a love of wacky pants). Nobody deserves it more: #1 in our hearts, on Substack, and in the freakin’ New York Times! by @amandaenglander

If @chefreillymeehan has crossed your path, you know he’s a little bit extra—and that’s a good thing. He’s sweet and sassy, super fun and super impressive. And man, does he know his way around a kitchen! He is the private chef you wish you had—and while you maybe can’t have that, now you CAN have his food! Reilly’s technicolor cookbook is brimming with flavor-forward tricks, tips, and twists that take every meal from really good to, well, a little bit extra. I don’t know who invented the cheeseboard, but I do believe @thatcheeseplate to be its modern godmother. So what’s a girl to do after everyone else catches on? Expand! @marissamullen has applied her genius cheese-by-numbers method to A LOT more sorts of apps—the best part of any party or meal (iykyk). And by APPS, I mean the formula of Ambiance, Pairing, Presentation, and Space. In her latest book, she has boards to be sure (cheese and otherwise!), plus bites, bowls, and beverages. It’s entertaining, it’s girl dinner, and it’s pure, delicious fun. Say cheese! 🧀 by @amandaenglander

Have you ever been overwhelmed by a cocktail menu and asked the bartender to just pick something for you? They of course counter with “are you in the mood for something smoky? fruity? bitter?” etc. That’s exactly how our favorite bartender @jnd3001 has brilliantly organized his latest book (our third together!). But this time, he’s made it accessible even to readers who aren’t drinking alcohol. There are classics (yes, you do see a martini and a michelada here) and John’s signature sensational creations (Rocking Chair Punch is a great retirement plan). Left the house for dinner and walked into a room full of friends, fam, and the biggest, bestest meatballs I’ve ever tasted in my life. As I said upon arrival, “I fuckin’ knew it,” but the surprise was still spectacular. (Besides, I have a track record of these things—scroll for proof.) Special thanks to everyone I unsuccessfully tried to pressure into revealing this to me for three months, whoever immediately handed me a perfect martini, and, of course, to @asdombroff (and accomplices) for pulling this off 🍝🍸🥳 taken in Emilio's Ballato by @amandaenglander
