POSTS STORIES REELS

You Don’t Just Need a Writing Coach.

You need someone who understands the woman behind the story.

The woman who has a hundred ideas but struggles to finish one.

The woman who has been writing for years but keeps getting stuck at the same point.

The woman who wonders if she’s good enough, talented enough, or even allowed to call herself a writer.

The woman who knows there’s a story inside her—but can’t quite find the way in.

That’s where I come in.

I’m Amanda. Writer, screenwriter, actor, director, life coach and lover of myths, fairytales and the wild, powerful, transformative medicine of feminine remembrance through story.

I work 1:1 with women writers who want to finish their novels, screenplays and memoirs, but who also want to understand themselves more deeply through the process.

Together, we explore:

✦ Your story, characters, structure and the craft of writing.

✦ The self-doubt, fear and inner blocks that keep you from creating.

✦ The deeper story beneath your story—the wounds, desires, shadows and transformations that give your work emotional depth.

✦ Your identity as a writer, and what it means to claim your creative voice.

✦ A sustainable writing practice that works with your actual life.

✦ The goals, support and accountability that help you finish your draft.

Writers grow as their story grows, and you don’t have to navigate that journey alone.

1:1 WRITING COACHING

✍️ Story Summons Sessions — For when you need to find your way into the story.

📖 Ongoing coaching — Three or six months of personalised support, story development, mindset work and accountability.

For women writing novels, screenplays, books for your business, memoirs- or even if you yearn to write but you’re not sure yet what that looks like.

Your story is calling.

It’s time to answer the summons!

🌹🌹🌹The heroine’s journey is quite different from the hero’s, but my (fabulous!) masters in writing course didn’t teach it!

I had to discover it through reading, books upon books upon books, by reading fairytales, women’s journeys through mythology, goddesses, witches, by talking to women, by going through perimenopause, by writing.

Most of us are familiar with the traditional hero’s journey: the call to adventure, the quest, the battle, the victory and the triumphant return.

But many journeys don’t follow that path.

For many women (not all), the journey looks quite different.

It begins with rupture, not curiosity- a knowing that life can no longer continue as prescribed- and a descent into the underworld. Sitting in the darkness, grieving and letting an old identity fall away.

It’s less about adventure in the outer world and conquering, more about remembering who you were before the world told you who to be.

More about reclaiming a forgotten part of yourself, finding your place in the world, discovering your own wisdom or finally giving voice to a story you’ve kept quiet.

There might not be a sword, a kingdom and a grand victory. It might be about stripping all of that away to discover the purest essence of ourselves.

There may simply be a woman who begins to listen to herself, trust her instincts and write a different ending.

Heroine’s journey stories are so important. They remind us that what we go through as women has been mapped by women before. We’re not alone. We’re not crazy. This is how the feminine energy moves- in spirals- not linear like the masculine energy.

Let’s explore some women’s journeys through fairytale and do some writing together!

Join me for Once Upon a Woman, an online storytelling workshop exploring fairy tales and folklore and how we can harness these story archetypes for our own writing and lives!

🌳📖🌸Why do women need fairy tales?🌸📖🌳

Because the older I get, the more I’m drawn to them, the more impact their profound lessons have upon me, and the more I realise how much I have been unconsciously shaped by them.

Fairy tales are not just stories for children. They are ancient maps of the human experience.

Beneath the magic, forests, enchanted objects and strange creatures are stories about the things we all encounter: leaving home, losing our way, meeting the unknown, finding our courage, facing our shadows and discovering who we really are.

And I think that for women in particular, these stories hold something incredibly precious.

For centuries, women have been told stories about who they must be, how they they must behave and what a happy ending looks like.

But the old tales offer something more complicated, mysterious and liberating.

They give us symbols, images, and language for the experiences that can be difficult to name. They remind us that getting lost (although it doesn’t feel nice) is a crucial part of the journey, that transformation is rarely comfortable and comes with sacrifice, and that the heroine doesn’t always follow the obvious path- the path laid out for her.

Revisiting these stories as grown women, we can recognise our own lives clearly within them and discover these are not just stories for childhood.

These are stories for our lives. For all our initiations and rites of passage. We are living them, so we may as well bring them to consciousness and be intentional about it. Be informed!

I’m about to host a one-off online workshop for women exploring fairy tales, the heroine’s journey and the stories beneath our own stories.
We’ll gather online, I’ll tell you a story, we’ll discuss its symbols and meaning for us as women and do some creative writing with some prompts.

You don’t have to be a writer to join us, anyone who’d love to delve into story and symbol to apply it to their own life is welcome.

We begin shortly, so pop your name on my mailing list (LINK IN BIO) and details will follow here very soon!

What’s your favourite fairytale and why?

🌸🌸🌸Happy Beltane to all in the Southern hemisphere!

We celebrated kind of a bellaween as the kids dressed up to go trick or treating, then when the house was quiet- I had a Beltane Goddess Bath!

🌸Roses from my mum’s garden. 🌹
🌸Milk and Honey🌹
🌸Epsom salts🌹
🌸Rose and Ylang Ylang essential oils with coconut oil as a carrier🌹
🌸Beautiful soft feminine music. Sensual & sexy.🌹
🌸Pink candle for emotional healing, gentle love, compassion, self acceptance, harmony, heart chakra.🌹

This bath was a feast for the senses! I only wish I’d added a little chocolate to nibble on as I had the other four senses so beautifully covered.

Do you celebrate Beltane?

I’m new to witchcraft so I’d love to hear how you celebrate and what I should add next year!

📖✨📖✨📖Once upon a time, we knew that stories were more than entertainment. They were maps, warnings, medicine and invitations to transformation.

I agree wholeheartedly with Sharon Blackie’s new book, Ripening, that we need them now more than ever.

🌳They remind us that transformation is possible:
The girl who enters the dark forest doesn’t emerge unchanged. Fairytales remind us that we can outgrow the lives we’ve been living.

🌳They give us language for the things we cannot explain:
The wicked stepmother, the sleeping princess, the enchanted forest, the wise old woman. These are symbols for experiences we recognise deep in our bones.

🌳They help us reclaim and decolonise our imagination:
We’re encouraged to be sensible, productive and realistic. To confirm to patriarchy and capitalism. Fairytales invite us to imagine a different world. And to believe another way of living is possible.

🌳They teach us about the feminine journey:
Not every heroine needs to conquer a kingdom or slay a dragon. Often women’s journeys are about depth: descent, grief, intuition, shedding, remembering and reclaiming our power.

🌳They remind us that we are the authors of our own stories:
We don’t have to accept the roles we’ve been handed. We can question the old narratives, rewrite the endings and discover the medicine hidden in our own experiences.

We don’t need fewer fairytales as grown women.

We need more of the gritty ones before they were Disney-fied. We need to relearn how to read them.

I’m going to running a workshop online for women soon- more like a women’s circle, you don’t have to be a writer.

In the workshop we’ll explore symbols, archetypes and story motifs that can help us become better writers (or start writing!) as well as more informed initiated powerful women.

What would you love to know or have a chance to immerse yourself in more for this workshop?
What’s calling to you right now as a woman or as a female writer?

I’d love to co-create this workshop with you!

Jump on my mailing list (in my bio) if you’re interested and keep following along for updates!

‘The business of stories is not enchantment. The business of stories is not escape. The business of stories is waking up.’ - Martin Shaw. Courting the Wild Twin.

I recently wrote posts about re-enchanting ourselves and writing as spellwork.

Which I love. And I stand by.

But I got this new book today and started reading it and the opposite argument Dr Martin Shaw gives in the (superbly poetic and profound) opening pages also rings true.

That we should wake up. That stories might be the only secret weapons that can save us.

About a year ago, I made this beautiful workbook for writers who feel the call but aren’t sure where to start or what to write about.

I’m working on something better to replace this with. Something that feels more aligned as my work, creativity and coaching evolve and I believe I can serve you better.

I’ll scrap this one and replace soon with a new workbook.

If you’d like it, now is the time to click the link in bio and grab it before it disappears!

If you do, let me know if it helps and what worked for you so I can implement it into my updated workbook.

The time is approaching where I’ll begin building a community of women once more.

The last time I did this in a substantial way was my beautiful ballet school @wondergardendance

It was an incredibly special time of dancing, crafting, ritual, storytelling, community events, fundraisers, excursions, singing, laughing, embodiment… I even did Pilates classes for the parents and family yoga classes!

But the primary focus was on the children.

This time around, I want to focus on the women. To create a place as precious, wondrous and beautiful as this was, but to devote my heart to holding space for women.

I’ve had many offerings in mind, but the first will be a storytelling circle. A place for women and writers to explore themselves and their writing. A place to connect with soul. A place for soul retrieval. A place to sit in circle with like minded women and be seen and heard and held. A place to find the words for the stories living inside you. The unmet part of you that’s bubbling up inside. The dark and bright places that haven’t yet been named. The words and stories that are bursting out of you and the ones that are still shy and need a lot of love and coaxing.

I hope you’ll join me as I build this new thing. Slowly with methodical intention.

I want to help us remember deeply and embody wholly that we are the wilderness, we are sacred, sovereign, powerful. We are beauty and strength.

Follow along and be a part of this as it builds.
