A few months ago, I started thinking a lot about influence.

There’s a cliché that says, “Everyone wants to be a leader until they’re one.” I realized that isn’t just true of leadership—it’s true of influence. Platforms are everywhere, and we’ve never had more opportunities to be seen. I’ve watched people rise quickly, and I’ve watched others fall just as quickly. Leadership and influence were never meant to be separated from formation. Because whether we realize it or not, we’re all becoming someone.

Formation must ultimately be about becoming more like Jesus. When God entrusts us with influence, it was never meant to become our identity. Maybe these are worth asking: Am I being faithful with what I’ve already been given? Who am I becoming when no one is watching? What am I pursuing—a platform or Jesus?

If you love Jesus, keep seeking Him. If you don’t, seek Him. There’s nothing better than being formed by Him. by @amandaftroyer
