Day 9 in Ninh Binh felt like stepping into an actual postcard! We started the day with a tasty homemade breakfast at our homestay. ☕️Then, we headed to Trang An, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Ninh Binh. The crowds looked absolutely insane when we arrived… but the lines moved faster than expected and our total wait time was ~2 hours. Our patience paid off because the scenery was every bit as beautiful as we had hoped. ✨We glided past towering limestone mountains, through narrow caves (filled with sparkling stalactites), and stopped at temples along the way. After the iconic boat adventure, we walked to a lunch spot nearby with gorgeous mountain views to fuel up for the challenge of the day—climbing the endless stairs to the top of Mua Cave. 😅The reward was worth every step… The panoramic views of rivers, rice fields, and dramatic limestone peaks were so amazing! Day 8 we headed to Ninh Binh from Sapa! 🚌🌿We got extra cozy in our private limousine bus for the journey south—8ish hour drive with a couple stops along the way…Watching the scenery change from misty mountains of Sapa to dramatic limestone landscapes of Ninh Binh from the comfort of reclining seats made the long ride so enjoyable.I know it sounds like a splurge but transportation like this is crazy affordable in Vietnam! We checked into the sweetest little family-run homestay tucked into a lush property. It was nice and peaceful to be near a nature reserve and not in a noisy town. It’s just what we needed to recharge, but we still did a little exploring close by!I think it’s such a highlight when a property like this offers free bikes to take out to explore the area. Talk about simple moments that will be core travel memories for hopefully the rest of my life! 😍The consistent friendliness everywhere in Vietnam has been lovely, but Ninh Binh somehow took it to another level.It kind of felt like a movie scene where every person passing by waved excitedly and shouted a cheerful “HELLO!!” 🥹❤️After a long travel day, we enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by our host and took the evening slow to enjoy the property. Day 7 in Sapa was filled with foggy adventures and one of the most meaningful experiences of our trip so far. 🥰This one is a lot to summarize…We started the morning with yet another round at the breakfast buffet of our hotel. This time the stars of the show were the bánh mì cart, made to order pho, eggs benedict, and fresh waffles… I am a girl who loves food variety. 😂🍜Before our afternoon tour, Seth and I wandered through downtown Sapa—the fog actually lifted for a few magical minutes!!Seeing the town’s architecture so clearly was pretty exciting after living in mystery for a few days now. We decided to hike up to Ham Rong Mountain Ecological Park hoping for panoramic views over Sapa… but the famous viewpoint was literally just white nothingness. 😭☁️Then, we met up with our friends and local guide (who was actually from one of the villages we visited) and headed off on a jeep adventure deep into the Muong Hoa Valley!We bounced down dirt roads and winding mountain backroads in a topless jeep, passing through several villages. One of the most special moments of the day was visiting our guide’s wonderful family home while meats smoked over the fire and sleepy kiddos woke up from their nap. The family shared handmade textiles (some can take nearly a YEAR to create). Afton was waiting for the perfect authentic textile souvenir—score! 🙌We also stopped at a traditional herbal bath house tucked into the valley and of course had to warm up with a soak! 😍For dinner we had one of our favorite meals in all of Sapa at a small hole-in-the-wall restaurant packed with flavor. Dinner and drinks for 4 totaled around $13… and that has ruined us forever tbh. lol 🤑🍻We wrapped up the night exploring a large outdoor night market filled with sizzling street food, clothes, toys, jewelry, and just about everything imaginable.Tomorrow we head to our next destination in Vietnam… so come along for the next part of our adventure!! 🇻🇳✨#sapa #vietnamtravel #hmongvillage #travelasia #countryspousetravel @aftdcope @adam.white.pharmd.mba @vietnamtourismboard @travelandleisure @cntraveler @southeastasia.explores @sapa.vietnam @viator by @amandarx21
