I am Palestinian. My mom is the strongest, most-loving, and bravest person I know. If you were to talk to her today you would have no idea she grew up in a literal war zone for the first 24 years of her life. She saw her mom die when she was 14. They were in the same room, across the table from each other making labneh (yogurt) sandwiches for the rest of my family. When a bomb dropped on their building. It was an Israeli missile targeting a potential PLO (Palestine Liberation Organization) leader in the building. So they fired a missile to a 9-story apartment building that was full of displaced Palestinian citizens. I don’t know how my mom survived. After my grandpa dug my mom out of the rubble they both started to dig for my grandma but could not find her. A Red Cross worker came to help and did some calculations. How the bomb hit our home and where my grandma was standing at the time. They found her pretty quick after that. My mom started to volunteer for the Red Cross herself, helping other victims, picking literal body parts from the streets. It took another 10 years for her to escape to Sweden They make it really hard for Palestinians to travel. My grandfather managed to get illegal visas for the both of them. They almost didn’t make it. But they didn’t give up, and for that I’m alive and eternally grateful. My mom is 100% Palestinian. She was born in Lebanon in 1966. She’s never seen her homeland because our family was displaced in 1948. With the support of the UK and USA after WWll, over 700,000 Palestinians were forcibly kicked out of their homes to make room for Israeli settlers. Kicked out of homes that we have lived in for generations. Homes that were built by our great grandfathers. My family lived in Haifa, Palestine. It is now known as Israel. With nowhere to go, in fear for their safety, they moved to the neighboring country of Lebanon.But it still wasn’t safe. Israel bombed our apartment building without any warning. I guess targeting one potential PLO leader was excuse enough to bomb a 9-story residential building. My mom was 14. And the “leader” wasn’t there. Continued in the comments ⬇️ by @amani416

Honeymooned in Puerto Rico 🥰 The locals are so nice, the views are unmatched, and the food was divine 🤤👏 10/10 recommend!! I have been Mrs. Amani Padovani for 4 days and it still feels surreal 🥹❤️ Words cannot express how special Friday night was and how grateful I feel. Thank you to everyone who came ❤️Thank you Dania for killing it with the decorations and the cake! Thank you to my parents for hosting 🥰 The food was amazing, thank you Teita Rasmia for cooking, and shookrun Tiata Om Adel for the beautiful pieces of crotchet for the house ✨and Khalto Abir for the incredible bouquet 💐❤️ also Luis and Veronica for the delicious ceviche, taking care of our pets, and transforming our home while we were away 🥺I am honored to officially be a Padovani 😍 It feels bittersweet to say goodbye to Flood on my ID but I know I will always be a Flood ☘️❤️ I am so thankful for my new family, you all are truly one of a kind. From day 1 everyone has been so genuine, welcoming, and kind. A special thank you to Millie and Kim for being the best match makers 😉🥰To my husband @mikep6453 ❤️ I didn’t know I could feel this way for anyone.
