Over the past few weeks, one question has come up more than anything else:

“How can I support what y’all are building?”

This is one way. 🌅

When God gave me the vision for Electric Sun Society in 2022, I wanted to create spaces where people could gather through music, wellness, art, and culture—experiencing sounds from the African diaspora while building genuine community here in Richmond.

That vision became Vibes At Sunset.

We believe this experience should remain FREE and accessible to everyone. But creating something like this takes resources, time, and a community that believes in the vision.

If Vibes At Sunset has ever introduced you to new music, brought you peace, helped you meet new people, inspired you, or simply given you a beautiful evening on the hill, we invite you to invest in what we’re building.

Your support helps fund:
• Park permits
• Sound & production
• Wellness programming
• Community experiences
• Event operations
• Keeping Vibes At Sunset free for everyone

No amount is too small. Every contribution helps us continue creating meaningful experiences for our city.

Thank you for believing in this vision and helping us build something bigger than an event. 💛

JULY VIBES AT SUNSET IS HERE 🌅

Y’all have been asking… and we’re excited to finally share the date.

After the overwhelming love and support from our June season opener, we are back for another evening of music, wellness, culture, and community.

For July ONLY, Vibes At Sunset will take place on the 3rd Thursday — July 16th (instead of our usual 2nd Thursday) so everyone can plan accordingly.

Expect everything you know and love about Vibes At Sunset — beautiful sunset views, community energy, local vendors, wellness experiences, and soulful sounds — plus a new special guest DJ joining @j.kirven for another unforgettable evening.

We are still processing the incredible response from June. Thank you Richmond for showing up, supporting the vision, and reminding us why we created this space.

The journey continues 🌅

WE’RE BACK HOME 🌅✨

After a long journey working alongside the city and community, Vibes At Sunset officially returns to Libby Hill Park for our 2026 season opening on Thursday, June 11th from 5pm–9pm.

Libby Hill Park is deeply special to us. Not only is it the birthplace of Vibes At Sunset, but it’s also one of the most beautiful and culturally significant gathering spaces in Richmond and the Church Hill community. To be able to bring this experience back to the hill means everything.

To celebrate the return, we’re honored to welcome Richmond legend @djlonnieb as our official special guest for the season opener. His impact on Richmond’s music culture is undeniable, and we’re excited to bridge generations and communities together through music, love, and positive energy.

For everyone new joining us because of Lonnie B or discovering Vibes At Sunset for the first time — welcome 🌞 Vibes At Sunset is a free community-centered experience rooted in music, wellness, culture, creativity, and togetherness. Expect soulful sounds from around the Black diaspora including Afro House, Amapiano, Jazz, R&B, and more alongside community yoga, massage therapy, wellness vendors, local businesses, beautiful people, and intentional energy.

This is more than an event. This is Richmond. This is community. This is home.

ISIGQI
Rhythm in isiZulu.

African electronic dance music is global.

From the birthplace of house in Chicago to the explosive rise of Amapiano in South Africa…
to the deep, spiritual pulse of Afro house moving dance floors across the diaspora.

This music has always been connected.

Born from Black rhythm.
Carried through the diaspora.
Evolving in cities and cultures around the world.

ISIGQI is a new dance experience in Richmond rooted in that connection — a celebration of African electronic music in all of its global expressions.

From Chicago house roots…
to South African rhythms…
to Afro-diasporic sounds shaping dance floors worldwide.

No dilution. Just rhythm, movement, and energy.

In preparation for FREQUENCIES, we’re re-sharing my filmed set from Vibes At Sunset — September 2024.
If you’re new to the J. Kirven / Electric Sun Society sound, this is the perfect place to begin your journey.

Hit the link in the bio to watch on YouTube — whether you’re at work, working out, cleaning the house, driving, or vibing with your kids, this mix is a full sonic escape.

The set opens with the stunning “La Brea Stocker” by @terracemartin featuring @lovealexisley — a moody, cinematic jazz piece that sets the emotional tone before the energy shifts into an abstract, ancestral awakening through the sounds of @kelvinmomo_ .

From there, the journey unfolds.
Warm. Soulful. Deeply rooted.
This is the frequency we’re building.

Tap in and get familiar with the sound of Electric Sun Society. ⚡️
