On Tuesday, May 6th the Lord called one of my favorite people home. As we lay him to rest today, I am at ease knowing that he is in heaven, with the biggest smile he wore every day, spreading his love for others, and rejoicing the Lord. Coach Vega was not only a coach to me, but family. I had the honor of spending time with Coach Vega during his last year of life. Coach Vega, was so much more than a coach, he was a mentor, my spanish tutor, a motivator, and my pick me up on a bad day. Coach Vega, cared for everyone around like no other. I can easily say I have never met someone so hard to be in a bad mood around. I could have the worst day and get to practice and could never face him with a frown on my face. You could never tell the day Coach Vega may have had, he always faced the day with a smile and encouraging those around him. Throughout this past softball season our team faced a lot of adversity, Coach Vega never failed to let us know that we were capable of doing the “impossible” and that he was proud of us regardless of the results of the games we played. If you ever got the chance to meet him and know what a great man he was, you would know around him you never have to question your worth or whether you should be proud of yourself. I am more than grateful that I get to say that I knew him. I will carry what he taught me every day and strive to be even half the person he was. As, I am approaching the end of my high school time I hate that I can’t bring him to my next chapter with me. Although, I won’t be able to run into the stands at college to see his big smile and give him a hug when he would have come to watch me play, I know he is still supporting me with the biggest smile in paradise. You never know when someone’s last day is, be kind, spread love, and never take any day for granted. Heaven gained a GREAT one, but as Romans 12:12 says “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” As these past few days have been very hard, I find joy in the promise of God’s Glory. I will miss you more than you know Coach V, the love I have for you is unconditional. This isn’t goodbye, just a see you later, and as always fuego for life❤️🕊️💌 by @amariburceee
