Synopsis: On the island of Obeya, we follow the journey of Ayomi, a mute 10 year old whose daydreaming tendencies make it difficult for her two feet to stay on the ground- quite literally! On the day of her 10th birthday, she is finally of age to partake in one of her village’s most sacred ancestral ceremonies: a ritual performed for their water goddess. But those in her village believe she’s too in the clouds to understand their scared ways. Will she succumb to the beliefs of her village, or will she discover a hidden meaning behind her own proclivities? Follow along to see her journey unfold!

been away for a while.
been spending my time simply existing, trying new things, and learning what it takes to create a life for myself with the hands my mother gave me. been learning to embrace the restless nature of the early 20’s, and to not take it’s harsh lessons too personally. been learning that embracing life’s pivots is a skill, one i’ve been faced with practicing lately. been learning that sometimes you must allow yourself to die and come back to life so you can learn how to live again. been learning to let go and not take this shit too seriously. ive relearned how sacred art is to me, and that theres power in choosing to create in a world like the one we live in today. i’ve learned that in a world like the one we live in now, it’s never been easier to love art. to love making art. to love being human. to see the honor in doing so. and to choose it over and over again. at 23, i feel grateful for every chance i’ve had to “start over”, and for the many more that are inevitably to come.

so i figured now is as good a time as ever to welcome myself back to my own page and make it a home for my ideas again, in a way that suits the me i am today

all that to say, i’m back.
i hope that this new era of mine is one that speaks to those who need to hear it🪽

a bunch of old + new art in no particular order just bc i’m in the mood

also some ramblings for those who care to read:

post grad life has been filled with so many blessings and yet so many hardships. i’ve been so grateful to come back home, experience rest, eat familiar food, see familiar faces, and just allow myself to rediscover my hometown thru this new adult lense…but i’m so incredibly dissatisfied with how little time i’ve had to create art. it’s honestly smth that eats away at me every single day, this pressure to “create”. being a teacher is great, but it leaves me so drained and exhausted, that even when i do get days off, i just want to spend them recovering from how taxing it is on me. i can doodle all day, but it takes so much out of me to even think about making a “finished” piece. i so desperately wish i had more time to do art, it just seems like there’s never enough time. i have so many ideas and so much i want to do, but it just feels like i’m letting it all slip thru my fingertips. while at college, i had time but no motivation/confidence, and now that i FINALLY got over the hurdle of being insecure in my work, now i just don’t have time to indulge in myself. it’s like i traded one struggle for another ;_; life has jokes! life is a lot. but it’s always gonna be a lot. at what stage in adulthood do i finally achieve a better grasp on these sorts of things? how much more intentional must i become with my time and energy before i finally understand how to balance life and all that comes with it?? i don’t know!! im just really eager to get my ideas out there and let the world know who i am, im practically itching for it. i’m always gonna be an artist and i’m always gonna wanna make art, even when i’m not and can’t. i hope the light at the end if the tunnel for this chapter comes sooner rather than later. but despite all this, i’ve never felt more like an artist than i do now and i’ve never been able to envision of the type of work i want to make so clearly…i’ll hold onto that victory for now :p

and that’s a wrap 🍅🖍️🐛 cried like a baby at Open Show this year while my film played, thank you to everyone for being so supportive 🤍
