Kota Girl, today marks the end of an era. It was an honor to get to enjoy 13 incredible years with you. You may have single handedly helped me land my beautiful and amazing wife, lord knows the math doesn’t add up on that one without a Kota puppy involved. You moved cross country with us… twice. Watched and helped us raise a family. You were always down for the adventure. People used to think it was irresponsible to take you biking and running as a puppy. That your joints would be ruined for life. What I would give to have run into those people last month when you took your last 5 mile run to the lake at 13 years old, smiling and trotting along like you have done since you were a pup. I’ll never forget the way you used to stay awake til the last person would leave at the Jangle Mansion parties, then quietly and exhaustedly come upstairs to bed, saying ‘all is good. We can sleep now.’ The way you would always climb to the top of the tallest rock, as if you were posing for a cover shot. How sweet you were to all people, babies and puppies - but how quick you would regulate if another dog crossed the line. Always the sweet bear, always the protector. The way you would drink water while you swam around to cool off in the middle of a run. How you would lay on the very last patch of snow as it melted away in June - dreaming of those cooler days. You’ve been on more bike rides, ski tours, camping and rafting trips than most humans. At home you basically lived by Julie’s side and would rarely even visit me in my office during the day - and I don’t blame you one bit. It’s going to be a different life without your big, fluffy, sweet self around, and you will be missed by so many people, but never forgotten. I hope the water is cold and the snow is soft and fluffy wherever you are. See you on the other side for our next adventure. ❤️ by @amatth19

One year ago today, on the last day of my 2 week Japan Odyssey @itsdickmeyer and I stumbled upon this insane feature that a crew had constructed in the backcountry of Kiroro.

It was unquestionably too big for me to hit, wayyy above my pay grade… yet I knew I would forever regret passing up on the opportunity… No regrets! 🤟🦅 💥 by @amatth19
