POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Our very own Christina Miller, Network Director of the Amazon Gold Alliance, is going to be a part of the Chicago Responsible Jewelry Conference this week. This event brings people together from around the world to discuss what work has been done in the jewelry industry, and what more we can do. It's important to stay involved in these conversations to keep fighting against the destruction gold has on the Amazon.

Christina will be speaking alongside Andres Castellanos from @fairalloy.eco, Vera Cittadino from @arm_global, and Greg Valero from @peacegoldorg. by @amazonaid

What happens when you gather people from around the world to work together to innovate at a systems level on gold mining in the Amazon? At our inaugural Amazon Gold Alliance Summit, we found inspiration and a sharpening of what we already knew: we are better together. by @amazonaid

We are still processing all of the amazing collaboration and passionate conversations between climate leaders at New York Climate Week last week.

A highlight was participating in a roundtable at @goalshouse, “Amazon Gold: a Blind Spot for Philanthropy, Conservation, and Investment alike.” We were honored to bring together Indigenous leaders, policymakers, philanthropists, conservationists, business leaders and market actors to explore the complex issue of ASGM gold in the Amazon—and why it is so vital to look at it through a systems lens.

A special thank you to @goalshouse, the @niatero Foundation, and the Mulokot Foundation. We look forward to keeping this conversation going on a national and international scale. by @amazonaid

Benedict Cumberbatch’s new documentary, How to Live on Earth, explores how can humanity build a thriving future by working with nature, rather than against it.

At Amazon Aid, we believe the Amazon can help show us what it means to truly live on Earth: protecting ecosystems, supporting the communities who depend on them, and finding solutions that allow both people and nature to thrive.

How to Live on Earth premiere today for free on YouTube.

When we throw things away, we probably aren't thinking it'll end up back on our plate. Read more about this issue in a recent @mongabay article, linked on our story.

Did you know that deforestation can change the clouds in the Amazon?

Trees keep temperatures down and absorb moisture from the air. When you get rid of them and turn the area into a pasture, crops, or abandoned mining site, the entire system is changed. This results in more low-level clouds rather than the normal high ones, and can alter the entire ecosystem.

While we are not advising you to go jump in the Amazon rivers to hear for yourself, this is too interesting not to share!
