The Volkswagen | Audi St. John's Mountain Bike Skills Park is back open as of 2:00 PM today, June 22.

Thanks to DirtLove Design who was here this past weekend to give the skills park a refresh.

As part of that work, they hired a local build crew as part of AMBA's commitment to build the local mountain bike community capacity, one step at a time.

Together with Devon of Dirt Love, the crew made adjustments and additions to the park while learning from Devon, one of of the best builders in the region!

They reshaped features to make the park flow better than before, added some new transfer lines, and added optional larger lips to the big jump line.

Trail building is back tomorrow - 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Meet at the DFO overflow lot and we'll walk in to Long Way Around in East White Hills.

Last week's volunteer prize winners: Lachlan Roe-Bose (general volunteer prize) and Sasha Artamonenko (student volunteer prize). Lachlan won a $50 gift card courtesy of @freeride_mountain_sports and Sasha won a $50 gift card from @theparlouronmilitary (courtesy of AMBA).

Thanks to everyone who came out.

👀 Check out the sneak peek for the Avalon Mountain Bike Association‘s annual film festival event: Freehub PRESENTS, taking place on October 24 from 7 to 9 PM at Bannerman Brewing Co’s upstairs event space. This annual festival showcases unreleased short films from some of the sport’s best filmmakers and riders, supported by SRAM, Maxxis, evo, Leatt, and Orbea.

It’s a family-friendly night so kids are welcome with a parent or guardian. Entry is free for AMBA members — just use the coupon code in your inbox. Every Sunday we draw two $50 gift cards, one from a local business and one from @freeride_mountain_sports . One goes to an adult volunteer and one to a student volunteer. Put in at least two hours and you're in the draw.

Gloves, sturdy footwear, water and a snack. Tools and guidance provided, no experience needed. Students can get volunteer hours signed off on the school's form or ours.

Rain or shine. We only cancel for high wind or snow, and we post updates here.

Youths 10-16: check out this exciting new clinic! Ride the Net is an intermediate progression ride designed to take the skills and fundamentals riders have developed and put them into practice on the trail.

Riders should already be comfortable riding variable terrain, including rocks and roots, and have previous experience with basic bike-handling skills. Riders must be AMBA members.

We’ll make our way through Subnet and its features, stopping along the trail to break down different sections, learn how to approach features, and build confidence through practical instruction and repetition. Sign up at ambanl.ca/events. by @amba.nl

This summer we had 9 ladies join us for skills coaching and we got great feedback! So, AMBA is offering another progressive learning experience for females 10+ years old on October 17 and 24. Week 1 will focus on flat land fundamental skills and the second week will see our riders hit the trails. These sessions are great for a novice rider or for someone who’s looking to sharpen up their foundational skills.

Participants must be available from 9am-12pm on both Saturday, October 17 and Saturday, October 24. Registration is for both days and riders must be able to attend both days.

Participants must have a mountain bike in good working order and a helmet, and be comfortable riding on flat ground. Participants must be AMBA members for insurance purposes and must sign a waiver. Sign up at ambanl.ca/events. by @amba.nl

🛠️ Fall trail building is back — and we're kicking it off this Sunday!

Join us this Sunday, October 4 as we get back to work on Long Way Around in the East White Hills. We'll meet at 10 AM at the Department of Fisheries and Oceans overflow lot and walk in from there, digging until 2 PM.

No experience needed — we bring the tools and the guidance, you bring gloves, sturdy boots, and a couple of hours.

🎁 New this year: every week we're giving away two $50 gift cards — one from a local business and one courtesy of Freeride Mountain Sports — to one adult volunteer and one student volunteer who put in at least two hours. Show up, get your hands dirty, and you're in the draw.

It’s our last Nutra Holdings women’s evening ride of the season, and it’s going to be gorgeous out! Join us for an all levels ride in Pippy Park.
