So your postpartum hair is thin, dry, dull, crunchy, and your curl pattern hopped off the train a ways back. I get it. Baby making takes a lot from our bodies. And we really see the affect of that in things like our hair and skin. And it’s not just that. Illness, life changes, weather, medication…these are all things that can really wreak havoc on our hair and scalp.

After trying a variety of curly tips and products, I jumped back on board with @monatofficial for my curly hair. I thought what the heck could it hurt at this point. And here I am many years later loving this hair. It just keeps getting better and better. Now don’t get me wrong there are still bad hair days. My curls don’t always play nice and the bun life is the real life. But the right products have changed the hair game for me.

Products without fillers that build up and ultimately damage my hair, products with active ingredients that are working to better my hair every single wash, and products quality ingredients scientifically tested and formulated to work with our hair and scalp and not against it have changed the hair game for me.

If any of this sounds like you then let’s get the right products in your hands. Take my hair quiz at the link in my bio or comment quiz to have it sent right to your inbox. Let’s get you loving your hair!

It all starts at the scalp. The skin on our scalp is actually pretty important. First it ages faster than the rest of our skin, which is 🤯. But it’s also a fairly sensitive little biome. Too much buildup or dry skin can cause your hair to stop growing or to shed excessively. It can cause the hair that is growing to be weaker, which means it is more easily damaged. So we have to take our scalp care seriously. Think of it like the soil for your hair. If you want solid strong plants then you nurture that soil. If we want strong healthy hair, we need to care for our scalp.

Need help figuring out your hair and curls? Take my hair quiz linked in my bio for a customized routine! You can also comment quiz to get the link sent directly to you.

Look, I know we all want to see @harrystyles as many times as possible in our lifetime. But for the love of all things if you are a person that already saw him 5,6,7,8 (you get the idea) times, I am begging that you please let the rest of us have a chance. I didn’t even make it out of the presale queue for any of his current shows before it was sold out. I know there are bots etc, but also if you somehow snagged tickets to half the nights in one city….i love that for you so much but let’s spread the love ok! šŸ«¶šŸ»

Thanks so much, that’s all.

Back to school. Summer is always too fast and too slow. I guess that is the story of life though…the days are long but the years are short. Our little Lincoln man begins his Senior journey. Charlie bug is starting her grand middle school adventure. And Lola bean is living the solo elementary life in third grade. Praying for a gentle and full season for these babies. It’s been a wild few months and I think gentle is just what they need. Cheers to a new year! by @amber.d.burton

We are having the best time with our Tin Can phones. Seriously these kids! Who knew that they had zero idea how to even hold a phone. 🫠 Phone etiquette lessons coming in hot. Definitely check into these if you have littles. Calls within the Tin Can network and 911 are free. And only numbers approved can be used. by @amber.d.burton

Exercising with MS or a chronic illness can and will most likely look different. You might find yourself fatiguing faster and need a break. And that’s ok. Planned rest days can be a bit more critical. Additionally know your limits. Never be afraid to modify an exercise or ask for accommodations. The movements are for you and your body, not the other way around. You don’t have to tell your gym or coach about your illness if you don’t need to, but don’t be afraid to have that conversation if it makes it easier and more accessible.

And obviously talk to your doctor about any concerns or new routines. They are your primary resource and can guide you the best!

March is MS Awareness month and I’m sharing some of my journey and knowledge from the last year. MS fatigue is different than anything I have experienced. The best I understand is that a body and brain with MS is working harder at a baseline than other bodies. So we start out with less even just waking up. Why it is so random when it hits, I don’t know. But it sure is consuming. It has even made me want to cry. But here we are, and here can be beautiful too.

It is multiple sclerosis awareness month, so let’s talk about the cost of MS. It’s not cheap, but there are resources available to you! Reach out to the @National MS Society, your doctor, or your pharmacy if you are struggling to figure it all out.

What makes a diagnosis of MS? Well the McDonald Criteria is the standard. This is the rubric so to speak that doctors will follow to make an official MS diagnosis. It has evolved overtime, which thankfully has led to people being diagnosed earlier but also led to less people being misdiagnosed.

While there is no cure for Multiple Sclerosis, there are many disease modifying therapies available. These therapies are medications shown to reduce disease activity by depleting part of your immune system. These range from daily oral medications to infusions every six months. I currently take Ocrevus which is an infusion ever six months. While it seems to be effective so far, it is expensive and time consuming. It takes most of a day and a single infusion costs around $85,000 before insurance.

Where is began! There is more to the where my Multiple Sclerosis journey began, but this was the most defining moment. Double vision, weakness, and numbness on my right side all led to my ultimate diagnosis.
