I guess when you work at the Louisiana Boardwalk and are this close to a river you really shouldn't be so surprised by what you find on the ground but this definitely-not-a-leaf for sure made me do a double take by @amberdawnland

My sweet Ariel, my shadow, my person in a tiny kittens body suddenly crossed the Rainbow Bridge today and while I would love to take some solace in that I can't. She was 5 weeks old. It wasn't her time. Her time was taken by an animal I took in under a year old. An animal I have spent almost 6 years loving and caring for. An animal I invested in. An animal who has been exposed to more kittens than some people even see in a lifetime. An animal I can not allow to be around my family anymore.To say I am heartbroken is putting it lightly, heartbroken for loss in multiple forms. If I'm puffy and quieter than typical for a bit it's not you. It's my heart trying to put itself back together. by @amberdawnland
