MY GAZA DIARY by Amina. @amena_baba1
This is a project to share the stories from the people I’ve got to know in Gaza. People who are just like you and me. Nurses, teachers, parents, poets, designers, architects, students and animators but whose lives have been turned upside down and have lost everything. Their situation is so uncomprehensible to most people, that I thought personal stories told through diary might help make it more relatable.

This third diary is from Amina, a graphic designer/illustrator and mother of 4 children, one of whom has a medical condition. She designed her own diary pages.

They lied to you when they said the war was over. They lied to you when they said the bombing and killing had stopped. They lied to you when they claimed the famine was over, and they lied when they said the border crossings had opened.
The truth is, people’s suffering continues.
Many are still struggling every day to obtain the most basic necessities of life—food, clean water, and medicine. Don’t believe everything you’re told. Look at the reality faced by civilians who are still living through this tragedy every day.
Please share my story so it reaches as many people as possible and helps others learn the truth.

Les mintieron cuando dijeron que la guerra había terminado. Les mintieron cuando dijeron que los bombardeos y las matanzas habían cesado. Les mintieron cuando afirmaron que la hambruna había terminado, y mintieron cuando dijeron que los cruces fronterizos se habían reabierto.
La verdad es que el sufrimiento de la gente continúa.
Muchos siguen luchando a diario para obtener lo más básico para vivir: alimentos, agua potable y medicinas. No crean todo lo que les dicen. Observen la realidad que enfrentan los civiles que aún viven esta tragedia cada día.
Por favor, compartan mi historia para que llegue a la mayor cantidad de personas posible y ayude a otros a conocer la verdad.

Do you know what’s happening in Gaza these days?
Let me explain. A person or group is targeted, and it’s strictly forbidden to try to help them. If they see the targeted person still alive, they bomb them again. If anyone tries to help them, they’re bombed too, down to the last drop of blood. So, if you see your brother, your friend, your neighbor, or anyone else struggling to survive, you can’t go to help them because if you go, you’ll both die. Of course, this is just one aspect of what’s happening.
The targeting of homes continues, the evacuations continue, and the number of martyrs and injuries increases every day.
So far, there’s no solution on the ground; it’s all just talk.
How many days has this been going on? How many months? How many years?
It’s been over 1,000 days, and we’re still suffering every day, every moment.

I am saddened by all the beauty I haven't had the chance to see on this earth. I don't want to die with so many wonderful books I haven't read, amazing people I haven't met, beautiful places I haven't visited, and lovely things I haven't touched.

The scene in the picture isn’t just a pot over a fire…
It’s another attempt to tell life that we’re still here.
We live in a tent, we cook over a fire, and I try to make a normal day for my children in a reality where nothing is normal.
Every meal has become a battle, and every day that passes requires more strength than the one before.
And yet, we still cling to hope… because my children deserve a better life than the one we’re living.
