I think the one thing that has certainly surpassed my understanding lately is reflecting on the past 7 years... yup that’s right.. the past 7 years. It’s the peace that comes despite reflecting on the hardships of my life thus far. And the conviction that comes by knowing and believing that “If not He is still good.” At the age of 14 I lost my dad. I remember dreaming that my dad was going to pass away quite often before he did..it was never a dream of anyone else passing away.. only him. I remember praying everyday for my dads safety because he was a truck driver and he was always on the road. Ironically, it didn’t happen at his job. And I prayed he wouldn’t go, but he did.

After that I remember praying that I wouldn’t feel the pain of loss again. But 11 months later I did.. my best friend passed away. The person who I considered “my person” in the group of friends I had since 7th grade.
I remember praying for someone to stay in my life, who was obviously not the person God had intended for me. But that’s what I wanted so I prayed rigorously. It didn’t happen.

I remember praying through my Biomedical classes and trying my best to make that be my calling but it wasn’t. I dropped that major.
God may have not given me everything I asked for but he gave me everything I needed. He gave me a New Life. He gave me understanding and confidence in the plan he has set out for me. He gave me peace in the middle of uncertainty. He turned my mourning into dancing!

And everyday because of who he is I choose to live for him and remember that “If not, he is still good.” Because regardless of what my future holds- I know who the creator of my future is. I live expectant to see his new mercies poured out everyday.. and everyday is a new adventure to see what he will continue to do!
So I want to encourage you.. in the middle of uncertainty pick up your bible and remind yourself “and if not He’s still good.” You just may find yourself that after that “mess” you thought was created, he was orquestrating something far beyond what you ever imagined and all because you choose to live for him.

So choose.

Every.Single.Day.

I promise you won’t regret it.
