I needed a week to collect my thoughts after finishing #75hard and I’m finally able to articulate some of what I experienced. The first photo above was taken on May 18, 2020 when I decided to do the #Whole30 program (again) in order to lose some weight and feel better. The second photo was on October 18, 2020 (day 1/75hard) and the last photo was taken on December 31, 2020 (day 75/75hard). I started 75 hard because I was tired of my own bullshit. I was tired of breaking every promise I had ever made to myself, tired of hating myself, tired of being ashamed, depressed and anxious and comparing myself to everyone else. I was tired of allowing people in my life who did NOT deserve to be there. I was tired of making plans that I KNEW I was never going to keep, and setting goals that I had no real desire to accomplish. I was tired of my own word being shit. I was tired of setting a bad example for my kids. Sick and fucking tired. Over the 75 day period I worked out for 45 minutes TWICE each day (one workout was outdoors no matter the weather each day), I drank 75 gallons of water. Read a total of 6 books I took 75 daily progress pictures. AND IT CHANGED MY FUCKING LIFE! I have never been more proud of myself than I am for completing this program. Holy shit. I can’t believe that I was the woman in the first photo almost exactly 3 years ago! The truth is I made so many excuses for my bad behavior and for treating my body like shit. My favorite excuses were: I’m too busy or too tired. The kids have sports. Gym memberships are expensive. Eating healthy is expensive. I don’t have enough time. The real truth is I WAS THE PROBLEM! I got so sick of my own bullshit that I made the “crazy” decision to commit to #75hard and it’s hands down the best decision of my life! This is NOT a diet or fitness program. This IS a mental discipline program; an Ironman for your brain. Getting strong and fit feels amazing but learning to keep the promises that I make to myself is even better. 8+ hours round trip to Forks, a detour nobody ordered, questionable referees, and lighting straight out of a horror movie...💀
We even had to digitally add big brother because work doesn’t care about football season😂

But for our birthday boy? WE SHOW UP. EVERY. TIME. 💙💛🏈

Because the miles, the chaos, and the late nights are all worth it when it comes to showing up for the people we love.

18 years ago today, our family was made complete with the arrival of Cash. ❤️

How is it possible that 18 years of loving this kid have flown by in the blink of an eye? It feels like just yesterday I was holding my baby boy, and today I’m watching him step into adulthood.

To say I’m proud to be his mom would be an understatement. The love this kid gives is fierce, genuine, and unconditional. He has always marched to the beat of his own drum, stayed true to himself, and reminded us that there’s no need to follow the crowd when you were born to carve your own path.

Being his mom has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. As much as my heart wishes I could slow time down, I couldn’t be more excited to see the man he becomes and the life he creates for himself.

Cash, no matter how old you get or where life takes you, you will always be my baby. I hope you never lose that big heart, that independent spirit, or the courage to be unapologetically YOU.

Happy 18th birthday to my youngest, my baby, and a piece of my heart that will forever walk around outside my body. I love you more than words could ever explain. ❤️

And I’ve been screaming about this since 2020.

While everyone else was being told to shut up, mask up, stand six feet apart, obey the mandates, and trust the experts, I was asking one very simple question:

WHERE IS THE EVIDENCE?

Because somewhere along the way, questioning the narrative became more offensive than the possibility that the narrative might be wrong.

We watched fear become a tool.

We watched people lose jobs, relationships, businesses, freedoms, and their ability to question authority without being branded selfish, stupid, or dangerous.

And healthcare?

This one still pisses me off.

As healthcare professionals, we should know better.

Our job isn’t to blindly obey.
Our job is to think.
To question.
To examine evidence.
To advocate for the patient.

Yet years later, there are STILL people in healthcare parroting the same talking points as if the last several years never happened.

We were told “trust the science.”

Fine, but then let’s actually look at the science.

Because science isn’t a religion.

It doesn’t require obedience.

It requires evidence.

And when the evidence changes, your position should change with it.

I was called crazy for questioning things in 2020.

I’m still questioning them.

And I’m damn sure not apologizing for it.

If that makes you uncomfortable, good.

Maybe being uncomfortable is exactly what happens when you start thinking for yourself.
