Nomination voting is officially OPEN, and we want to hear from you. Who deserves to be recognized at the 2027 Ameripolitan Music Awards?

We’re looking for your nominations across:

Honky-Tonk - Male & Female
Western Swing - Male & Female
Rockabilly - Male & Female
Outlaw Country - Male & Female
Group of the Year
Musician of the Year
Radio DJ of the Year
Festival of the Year
Venue of the Year

Head to the Ameripolitan website and follow the link to nomination voting. Register for an account, click “Now Voting” and take a look at the nominations already submitted. If your pick is already there, tap their name and “second” the nomination. Don’t see them? Hit “Nominate” and submit your own recommendation.

Your voice is an important part of the process. Alongside the public vote, Ameripolitan has an inner circle of established veterans from the roots music community who will also help determine the final nominees and winners.

Open voting closes November 1. Final nominees will be announced November 15.

It’s happening. The Ameripolitan Awards & Weekender is returning April 16-18, 2027 — and we’re doing it bigger and badder than ever.

This spring, we’re joining forces with the legendary Lonestar Round Up @lonestarroundup for one absolutely epic Austin celebration.

Nearly three decades of hot rod heritage meets over a decade of honky tonk, western swing, rockabilly, and outlaw country roots. Badass cars. Badass music. One unforgettable roots music community weekend.

It was an honor to celebrate Flaco Jimenez, Augie Meyers, and Speedy Sparks—the Texas Tornados.

We’ve said goodbye to all three recently. They created a sound that blended tejano and country into something pure and true.
That’s what Ameripolitan stands for: real music, real impact.

In a world of streaming algorithms and manufactured trends, Ameripolitan is one of the few spaces fighting to keep indie and roots music alive.

It’s the birthday of the honky-tonkin’, @ameripolitan creatin’, bar backbone-in’ boss babe herself – @celine_lee_watson_ .

The one keeping the lights on, the music loud, and the drinks flowing at the Hideaway. What would we do without her? Probably be in a whole lot more trouble.

I don’t remember when Augie Myers was not on my radar. My brothers played me the Sir Douglas stuff when I was a kid. Crazy, The Texas Tornado’s came out and I would end up touring with them in Europe. Super nice guys all of them.

I got to know Augie pretty well and when I bought Big Ts in St Hedwig Texas he told me that was where he grew up. He would come in often and sit in. He had Polio in the 50’s , uncountable set backs health wise but NEVER complained and was always positive in his manner , speech and actions.

I’m very very glad that the 10th @ameripolitan Awardshonored Augie and Flaco. Now the Tornadoes are back together. Rio it up. RIP Augie. by @ameripolitan

Flaco’s passing is another mile marker. Like Haggard and Jones and Cash it’s hard to imagine a world without him in it. It is definitely not as bright. You will be missed immensely Mi amigo.

Rest in peace, Flaco Jiménez.

A true legend, an irreplaceable cornerstone of Tex-Mex and conjunto music, and one of the most influential accordionists in American roots music.

From his early days with his father Santiago Jiménez Sr., to his groundbreaking collaborations with the Texas Tornados, Los Super Seven, Ry Cooder, Dwight Yoakam, and countless others – Flaco didn’t just play the accordion. He gave it soul.

We were honored to celebrate him early last year as our @ameripolitan 2024 Founders of the Sound Award recipient. That moment feels even more poignant now – a small recognition of a towering legacy.

He brought the border to the world, with heart, humor, and unmistakable style. Flaco’s music will continue to inspire generations to come – but his presence, his warmth, his vida, will be deeply missed.

Rest in Peace Flaco Jimenez, the legendary #accordionplayer from the #texastornados , six time Grammy Winner. In February of 2024 Flaco and Augie Meyers were awarded the life time achievement award at @ameripolitan called Founder of the Sound. Flaco was a pioneer of Tejano, Tex Mex, Norteño and American Country Music.

@mrbigsandy joined Flaco and Augie on stage to sing the part of #freddyfender 's iconic #wasteddaysandwastednights at the award show.

@grandolecountrybunker worked with the #Ameripolitan team on the on screen videos and was at the award show with @la.vieve and friends to capture this historic moment.

Thanks to @thedalewatson and @celine_lee_watson_ for creating, hosting and everything they did with their amazing team to make this moment possible. This is why the #Ameripolitan Awards matter. This is is why we need them to come back.
