BOTH EYES OPEN IN SELECT THEATERS NOW!!!

Storytellers seek to tell the truth and to do it with integrity. That is what is fundamental about filmmaking.
🎬
In December of 2023 Ariel @arieljuliahairston came and met me on the set of “I Hate I Love You” to talk about a new script she was excited about. What I didn’t know was a few months earlier, J. Carter @iwriteyouwatch , who at the time was the writer and EP of the current set I was working on, gave Ariel a writing prompt and a challenge to see if she could write a script surrounding the subject matter. The prompt you maybe wondering was a news article about a woman who had been badly burned by her ex boyfriend in a DV assault. Ariel took that idea, got to work and few months later the script BOTH EYES OPEN was complete.
🎬
According to the CDC, 41% of women between the ages of 18-34 experience DV. I was one of those women. That day on set Ariel said “I need your help to do this project. Also, I know you know actors.” It was an immediate YES! I went to J. Carter and said “I want to be on board with yall.” And we got to work finding new financing, crew, cast, wardrobe, locations and etc.
🎬
Besides my personal connections to the story, I am honored to have been able to be apart of seeing my friend Ariel’s brilliance shine. We could not have done this without our incredible cast. I am honored to have worked beside so many extraordinary Women as department heads @autumneubank and so many Black women producers @shon.carter_freeli.films , 1st AD @chenal.lauren , head of continuity @respectmyname, head of hair dept @iamkasirene , head of mua dept @magenthestylist , head of wardrobe @sheis.janlu , key pas @trucurl , etc. I also honored to work with our incredible DP @grantsmucker and camera team who gave every inch of their talent. G&E, grip, gaff, sound…. phenomenal work, thank you!
🎬
I say all this to say, so many ppl to acknowledge and thank ( looking at you @kiah.alexandria ) for Ariel and I meeting each other. What a journey…. never thought I would be here in such a short time. DREAM BIG! Until the next one…. 🥂#atlanta #botheyesopen #filmmaking #blackfilmmakers #blackwomenfilmmakers #collaboration taken in Atlanta, Georgia by @amermariewoods

WHEN TWO OF MY REALITIES COLLIDE.
👩‍⚕️
OPENING SOON! OTHER PATHS TO GOD…
🏥
SCANDAL meets THE PITT in this juicy dramedy!
The ICU nurses at Morey Medical Center don’t need another complication, but when money goes missing and fingers point in their direction, everyone’s on their worst and most outrageous behavior.
👩‍⚕️
This wild ride through the lives of five resilient women in healthcare in ATL is funny, poignant, and just the right amount of scandalous, while revealing that the path to healing and redemption is never a straight line.

🎾 MATCH POINT.
One final serve. One final set. One final chance to experience MR. COOL: A Play in 5 Sets.
Today, we step onto this court together one last time.
What started as words on a page became something so much bigger — a theatre full of people, conversations that continued long after curtain call, a lobby overflowing with energy, and a community that showed up for new work and independent theatre.
To every artist, cast member, crew member, designer, volunteer, sponsor, partner, donor, vendor, friend, family member and audience member who helped us get to this moment:
Thank you.
Thank you for buying a ticket.
For sharing a post.
For giving your time.
For giving your resources.
For telling a friend.
For believing in this play.
For showing up.
Every single one of you helped move us across the court.
And now there’s just one more match to play.
🏆 FINAL PERFORMANCE
🎾 Today | 2:30 PM
📍 Theatrical Outfit
🎟️ Use code MRCOOL26
If you’ve been waiting to see MR. COOL, this is it.
Come fill these seats one last time and help us send this story home the way it deserves.

🎾 MEET OUR TEAM 🥊

AMER-MARIE WOODS [Producer]
A fearless storyteller, both in front of and behind the camera. As an actress, producer, and filmmaker, she is dedicated to amplifying marginalized voices through bold, thought-provoking narratives. An Atlanta-based artist, Amer-Marie began her acting career in TV and film before expanding into theatre, bringing depth and authenticity to every role. On stage, she has appeared in Yoni Stone and the Honeypot Trap (SheATL, 7 Stages Theatre) and Cry It Out (Stage Door Theatre). She currently trains in movement, devising, and Suzuki with Vernal & Sere Theater and is part of the New Play Development Directing and Producing Intensive with Working Title Playwrights. Beyond acting, Amer-Marie discovered the power she held behind the lens. Wearing multiple hats as a Script Supervisor, 1st Assistant Director, Location Manager, and Unit Production Manager, she developed a sharp eye for storytelling. Her acumen for filmmaking led her to produce By The Lake, a raw drama on addiction, and Her Pretty Vagina, a dark comedy exploring women’s silent health battles. She also produced Both Eyes Open, a psychological thriller following a woman’s journey to reclaim herself after surviving domestic violence. @amermariewoods

If MR. COOL speaks to you, we’d be deeply grateful for your support. Every contribution helps us bring this production fully to life!

We’re trying to reach $15,000, and any donation, no matter the size, truly makes a difference. And if you can’t donate, sharing the campaign goes just as far!

Step into the arena with us 😎

Thank you and see you in August!

This year, I’m excited to announce that I’m producing Mr. Cool.
Inspired by the legacy of Arthur Ashe, this new play is stepping onto the court, and we’re officially kicking off our fundraising campaign today.
If you believe in independent theatre and the power of great storytelling, consider making a donation. Every gift helps us move one step closer to match point.
