To my Dad: your list of virtuous attributes is long. And your skill set in various areas even longer, and although both of these lists have come into play in our relationship, it isn’t always what you do or how you do it that has made the biggest difference in my life. Rather the eternal impact your existence has had on mine is simply because of who you are. And more specifically who you are to me. We don’t get to pick our fathers, but if I’d had the choice, you would be the one. And I know I didn’t get you because I deserved you in someway. There are many noble people who have not had noble parents. I guess it’s knowing how little I had to do with our relationship that makes me even more deeply grateful. I’m grateful to you as my father for being such a beautiful protector, faithful provider and spiritual leader. Although you had a wonderful earthly father who modeled this attribute, your surrender to God, as your father is an honor to behold, I have watched you follow the voice of God and seek it in the quiet times and in the storms. Know this, for as long as I live, you will be honored and remembered and celebrated. Happy Father’s Day dad! To many more.
