Happy 40th Anniversary, Legend of Zelda! 💖 Nan sent me these photos from Otakon last year so I could post today and truly this costume was a labor of love! I made it for Seattle last year; it was the first more involved cosplay I’d done in over a year and I’m still super proud of her 🥰

So many friends and mutuals have posted about pet loss lately and it reminded me of something that I wanted to share - one of my greatest regrets was not taking as many photos of Fiona in the last several months of her life. To be fair to past me, she did not look well and taking any photos felt like solidifying that she would never look like the dog I knew ever again. But now, three years later, I so deeply wish that I still had those moments despite the pain that they caused. She was still my girl inside the body that was failing her, and now I have no photos of the days where she was trying so hard to be herself despite her health. I find myself taking the most ridiculous photos of Fergus; blurry, grainy, supremely unflattering and all because every moment is a gift. Life has a way of yanking you around sometimes and I never want to regret not having a moment captured; especially because with the hormone fluctuations of perimenopause, my memory is almost completely shot most days and all I have are photos to remind me. The moral of this long winded story is to take the photo. Back it up. Print it out. It doesn’t matter if it’s blurry or ugly or imperfect. It’s a memory that you’ll treasure and you’ll have it when you need it the most. by @amieself
