One of the most richly diverse areas of New York. People from all over the world have lived next to each other for generations in this blue-collar south Brooklyn neighborhood. The annual St. Patrick's Day parade exemplifies this as, not just Irish, but folks of all ethnic backgrounds March down 3rd Ave.

Summer hoops in Brooklyn.

Raymond Bush has a lot of history. The 1997 documentary, Soul in the Hole, chronicles hoops, coming of age, and a summer in BedStuy. Much of the doc was filmed here, even though the main basketball court is on a different corner of the park. While many summer tournaments have migrated to other courts, you can still sense the importance this park has had on New York hoops.

Love letter to Lisbon. A list of thank you's:

Your winding, endless maze of streets with surprises around every corner and over every hill. So many hills.

Fado's soul, which reminded me of the passion in Tangos.

Your breathtaking beaches and rolling countryside. And the ever-present connection to the water.

Allowing me to be in the presence of the elderly who are holding on to a memory. And to your youth who are trying to shape the future of a quickly changing city.

Architecture starting from the rebuilding in 1775, post-earthquake, to mid 20th century modernism. And everything in between.

Showing me your underbelly and flaws. Reminding me that no place is perfect.
