This is my super-normal “GR Altezza” drift car. It is a stock Altezza with almost no mods at all.
- Blown head gasket
- No 2nd gear
- Melted clutch
- Disqualified
This car should’ve never made it to the event: It had been sitting for months on the verge of blowing up. But when @annoying.jp and @asitwasninety announced boogie battle 2026, I decided I really wanted to win, as sort of a swan song to my imaginary drifting career. Overhauling the car in 24 hours, skipping sleep for days, and standing in the pouring rain with blood on my hands and tears in my eyes as the car barely ran the day before. The morning of, the alternator belt snapped and I nearly missed the driver’s meeting trying to source one. Despite everything trying to stop me, we made it anyway. The car felt amazing, just as I remembered. We danced. I made it through round 1 eliminations. In open drift, I even took some people for ride alongs. A young girl on her birthday asked for a photo with me. Everything was spectacular. I swapped to smaller tires for a better stance, and the car felt even better. 2nd gear wasn’t really working anymore but I did my best. At some point, the lower radiator hose had detached, leaking all the coolant. My temp sensor wasn’t working so I had no idea and kept driving at the limit. Until my clutch overheated and started to come apart, and I realized how hot the car had gotten. By that point it was too late and the head gasket blew. One of the most heartbreaking moments of my life was holding the key, cranking the car endlessly, and hearing over the radio that I was disqualified. Overall, I still count this day as a victory. I proved to myself that I have the talent to drive, even if I don’t have the resources. I know I’m not the best but I think I could be one day, and for a beginner I don’t think I’m half bad. And I overcame every obstacle that tried to stop me from running that day. That’s something to be proud of.

I never planned to be a driver. I left the US to make a new life for myself in Japan, and while that didn’t work out, a new story started completely by accident. I’m going to win D1GP. I have no funding, no sponsors, no name, but I know I have the commitment and talent to make it. And I don’t really care if you think it’s impossible.

I hardly believe it myself! In an unfamiliar new car, with barely any practice, and dead tires… just the day before, @tuya_fd3s_se3p was helping me build this car from scratch. I didn’t even think I’d make it to the event, let alone take home first place! Of course, this is still beginner class and I have a long, long way to go. But I will do whatever it takes, for however long it takes to make it to the top!

Thank you @takuya5201 for teaching me how to drift from nothing for the past 2/3 months - for the first time, I feel like I’m actually drifting! During my short short practice, I suddenly felt like everything just clicked, like it all became instinct. I no longer had to think about where to put my hands or when to pull the handbrake, or how much throttle to give. I just searched for my line, and did my best to stay on it. The line that I had replayed over and over in my mind for the past 3 weeks, watching @shirtstuckedin ‘s runs and trying to understand how to tackle this course with stock angle. It felt the same way I feel when I’m playing drifting games online - the car in the palm of my hand, dancing under my control. An art, a display of skill and emotion. I so badly want to improve and express myself even better, to become someone who is no longer driving, but moving the car as if it is a hot wheels toy.

This is my dream, my passion. I’ve decided to give everything for it.

I’m a Gaijin wherever I go. Nowhere to call home. Doesn’t matter why. I’m sure some of you can relate; having nowhere where your very existence can be forgiven.
The anime is Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom. Any dangerous looking driving maneuvers on my page are performed by professionals on a closed course and may be heavily edited with advanced computer systems. And even if they were real, all noise ordinance and safety laws would have been kept intact, and stunts would have been performed far away from civilization.

3SGE at 8k rpm, bone stock Altezza with 50 psi in the tires. Managed to blow both the engine and transmission in a single day, but I’m so proud of how far my driving has come. This was my 6th time on track. Follow if you think I can make it to D1GP! 🤍🪽

Altezza + is300: best duo?

The video features a well built and heavily modified Lexus is300 and a Toyota Altezza drift missile, two takes on the same platform ending in drastically contrasting results. The Altezza handles playfully due to its lighter weight and smaller engine, and it revs high as it sings and dances. The is300 is a monster, it’s fire breathing 2jz engine giving it torque where it counts. The camera pans to a drone shot following the is300 as it drifts into the sunset. Melancholic and moody music fills the jdm atmosphere, making the video enjoyable for those who understand true car culture. Only that which lies before your eyes.
