There are enough resources to go around. Imperialism, colonialism, and unchecked capitalism are cancers.

In the face of governments that value capital over happiness for all, any act of kindness towards others - including our living earth - is political defiance.

I need to move different. After compiling information, perspectives, judgements, opinions and sharing them to get a message out, at some point you have to trade your problems for solutions…
Everyone knows the earth is being attacked, people are seen as chattel to those in power, and girl if they wanted to they would have by now.
Even though we are getting propaganda from various angles, we all know that ultimately the general ā€œway things are goingā€ is not good. So rather than being an alarmist, maybe it’s more helpful to share about what CAN be done from a suburban home neighboring The Cheetoh’s Palm Beach mansion - which doesn’t FEEL like much. But it matters. You matter. Every good thing you do matters.

Where we spend our money is political act. I know it’s hard to juggle all the mess that’s been made and it feels like there’s nothing we can do in our day-to-day lives that will make a change. I also know as Americans many of us have a choice about what brands and companies to support. Every dollar counts. And it’s not about being perfect, because everyone’s effort adds up, it’s about continuing to make the small changes so we can create a big wave. You WILL have to get up from the comfort zone at some point. May it be out of determination rather than desperation.

Showing up to my journal and reflection meditation at the end of a week (because I ā€œfailedā€ to do so at the beginning) has been an interesting way to approach and learn about the application of #astrology in life. Seeing how I was unconsciously influenced by planetary alignments and finding what synced up with my astrology for the week has also further legitimized this practice in my conscious mind. Like a ✨SPARK✨ that goes, ā€œAha! Magic IS real!ā€ Which gives my suspicious brain much much much joy.

✨ I am desirous of publicly calling out @locdbyliv for helping me reconnect with my ROOTS. There’s a pun here, just wait. Liv is the first person to work on my dreadlocks since I started them ~8 years ago. As an afro-Brazilian with a mother whose hair is significantly different, ā€œhair traumaā€ was a visceral part of my upbringing. African Americans have had a longstanding connection to their hair, with knowledge beings passed down by many generations, and there is a safety in that despite straight hair types being seen as preferable by the general population. Racism in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil is similar to America with the difference being that women of color are usually bullied into straightening their hair - to this day, my mom begs me to let her pay for me to remove my dreads and get a keratin treatment. There are places like Bahia where dreadlocks and kinky hair are common, but it’s pretty centralized. So anyyywaayysss, growing up in the united states was alienating. I never wanted to be called ā€œblackā€ because I wanted to be recognized as ā€œBrasilianā€. My hair quality was usually a mess. Recognizing my own internalized racism against my own people has been a wild journey - and smth I may share here in future… So thank you Fairy Loc Mother, for letting me ask personal questions about your Jamaican heritage and for giving kindness to my ignorance while you loved on my crown. You do much more than just hair.

Eternally grateful for this practice that has sustained my body and soul over the last 11 years. Yoga found me when I was craving movement that was more than a work out at the gym. Growing up doing gymnastics, I loved the challenge and focus. I took yoga teacher training because I quickly realized there was much more to this than the physical aspect. And it changed my life. I never expected to teach it but that also was a beautiful experience. I found the Godverse through yoga. It continues to be the practice that immediately bypasses my mind’s vast wanderings and connects me to my truest self. Through this practice and the help of my best friends I have overcome depression and suicidal ideation. I have helped elderly people regain mobility and connection with themselves. This practice took me to Bali, to Costa Rica, and to many magical experiences with strangers I may have never approached otherwise.

The pictures I have are fancy and eye catching and yes I love learning how strong and bendy I can be, but the real magic is within me. The magic is how I respond instead of react, how am I able to see past the surface level bs people try to hurl my way. Yoga connects us to ourselves, each other, mama gaia, and the universe beyond. If you have ever wanted to play, find a deeper connection with yourself, and let go self-criticism, maybe this is your siigggn šŸ˜›šŸ˜›šŸ˜› #yogalife #gratidaosempre #gtfoutside by @amindelastic

I wish you were soft
I wish my open heart would inspire you
That the blood I willingly let you see
Would move you
Into a frenzy of compassion
Towards a space we can inhabit
Lovingly
And softly

I wish anger was fleeting
I wish laughter followed quickly on it’s heals
So the priority was always joyful understanding
Compassionate communication
Dissolving the ego’s walls
To live in pure safety with one another

I wish we could all stay soft.

Mom’s surprise birthday was a success šŸŽˆ
I am 34 and just seeing this woman blossom. She’s opened her first business, she’s taking classes, keeping strong boundaries, and saving her money. It’s all so incredibly healing considering our meager beginnings as afro-Brazilian immigrants. I am the artist I am because of her. My need to express, my loud way of proving a point, the insatiable desire to overcome my emotional obstacles, my pliable heart that always manages to come back and make room even if it hurts… it’s all you @barauna.valeria1969 šŸ¤ taken in St Augustine Florida by @amindelastic
