They say the secret to a happy marriage is communication.

I think it might actually be your husband knowing how to cook.

He made us steak seasoned with adobo, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano and chimichurri sauce, with homemade mofongo, rice and beans.

The mofongo was made with air-fried green plantains, mashed with olive oil, butter and salt. It was so yummy! 😋💕 by @aminteriano

I don’t want to turn this into one of those stories where something painful happens and by the end there’s a lesson tied neatly around it.

Sometimes something just hurts.

I’ve been gone for almost two months, and pretending I could come back like nothing happened didn’t feel honest.

An unexpected pregnancy became something we were genuinely excited about. Then it became a missed miscarriage.

I thought miscarriage was one terrible moment. A beginning and an end.

I didn’t understand the middle.

Weeks of retained tissue. Bleeding. Cramping. Waiting. Wondering if my body had finally finished. Being afraid of infection and questioning every pain.

And when the medical care I was relying on didn’t make me feel safe, heard, or certain about what was happening, I started questioning my own instincts too.

That may have been the hardest part..losing trust in my own body.

Life keeps moving while part of you is stuck waiting for your body to catch up.

And underneath all of it is the actual loss. A future you weren’t planning for until suddenly you were, and then just as quickly, you weren’t anymore.

I’m incredibly grateful for my husband, my daughter, my family, and the people who showed up without expecting me to be okay. They couldn’t fix it, but they made sure I didn’t have to carry it alone.

There’s no inspirational ending here. I’m still healing and still learning to feel comfortable in my body again.

So much of miscarriage happens quietly behind closed doors the pain, bleeding, waiting, fear and grief while women are still expected to keep moving through life.

Maybe that’s why I’m sharing this.

Because sometimes hearing another woman say, “this happened to me too,” is enough to make you feel a little less alone 🙏🏽💖 by @aminteriano

Another day, another dress!!! This one was FUNNNN. I’ve been trying to step outside of my comfort zone and wear more pops of color lately, and this pink is DELICIOUS. Like if the pink Starburst was a dress 😍You know, the one everyone actually wants.

I swear @renttherunway is slowly turning me into a color girl because I probably never would’ve committed to buying something this bold, but renting it??? Absolutely 🤪💗

My “I have nothing to wear” meltdowns have become a lot less frequent, and somehow I still get to wear dresses that make me feel amazing.
