Senior year in college at the University of Michigan, I had a talk with a mentor from Blue Cross Blue Shield and he asked me “do you know the 5P’s?”

I replied, “of course product, price, place, and promotion”.

He said “no, those are the four P’s of Marketing. Do you know the five P’s of success?

I said “no, I don’t”.

He said “perfect, planning, prevents, poor, performance”.

Forward a decade later. I learned that in life you have controllables and you have uncontrollables.

You control what you can control and you forget about what you cannot control because to spend time focusing on things that you cannot control will drive you insane and get you no results.

To remain solution focused is the key.
