It’s heartbreaking to know that the king of Nelliyambathi, Chillikomban, is no more. 🥲🥲

From the updates received, it appears that Chillikomban may have been injured in a fight a few days ago. Later, while walking or drinking water near the contour canal of the Parambikulam Project on the Aliyar side, it is believed that he slipped or fell into the deep canal. Though he may have tried to escape, the reports suggest that he eventually drowned there. 🥲

I usually don’t mourn natural deaths in the wild, because nature has its own cycle. But whenever humans or human-made causes are involved, it feels deeply painful and upsetting. 💔

Thank you so much to this gentle giant for giving me countless opportunities to capture your photos and videos… and even today, people still share and enjoy those memories on Instagram. 🥲❤️
