The main questions I receive are “how do I get toned?” “how did you get so much definition, those “lines?” The list goes on…
And I always have to let a few people down when I explain to them I have achieved the physique I’m at through years of consistently strength training, eating in a surplus (always hitting my protein), eating in a deficit, getting some cardio in, and patience.

It is not an overnight process to build your dream body even if you’re incorporating peptides/ GLP1s, you still have to train hard as fuck to build the muscle aka the definition I promise you want to see & see on majority of those fitness influencers you drool over

I still don’t have my “dream” physique honestly I don’t even know what that looks like but I do have a physique I’m fucking proud of because this is something you can’t buy, it’s something you have to work hard for and love yourself through every stage. Even the “bulk”, you gotta love it.

So if you’re on your journey whether that’s just starting, wanting to start, or been on it. Have patience, trust the process, train fucking hard (and with intention), and show your body some love along the way.

Your body is the least interesting thing about you.
I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. We live in a world where so much of fitness is centered around what your body looks like.

The abs.
The waist. The glutes. Your body fat percentage.
Your weight. How lean you are. How much you’ve changed. And I understand it. I love fitness. I love building muscle. I love seeing what my body is capable of. There is something incredibly empowering about working toward a goal and watching yourself become stronger.

But my own fitness journey especially bodybuilding has taught me something I don’t think I could have learned any other way: My body is always going to change. I have watched myself get leaner.
I have watched myself gain weight.
I have built muscle.
I have lost muscle. I have stepped on a stage at my leanest and felt incredibly proud of what I had built. And then I’ve watched that exact body change again 🤷‍♀️

Because that’s what bodies do!! They change with seasons of life, change with training, change with stress, change with hormones (fuckin periods), change with food, change with rest, and change as we grow.

And for a long time, I think it’s easy to accidentally make your body your identity. You start believing that you’ll finally feel confident when you have the body you want.

That you’ll finally be “enough” when your stomach is flatter, you’ll finally be happy when your legs look a certain way. That you need to maintain one specific version of yourself because what happens when that version changes? Let’s be fucking real though.

You are so much more than the body you live in.
My body is capable of some pretty damn cool things.

It carried me through 20-mile hikes.
It has pushed through countless training sessions.
It has gotten me on a bodybuilding stage.
It lets me teach movement to other women.
It lets me explore new places, dance, laugh, love, work, travel, worship, create, and experience this life. taken in Zion National Park by @amiyahwalkerr

Your physique isn’t built in one phase. It’s built through honestly a cool ass process🤍

Build the foundation.
Create the deficit.
Reveal the muscle.
Return to maintenance.
Build again.
Repeat as needed.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned through my own journey is that getting lean is only one piece of the equation. My physique today is so different from when I did my first cut(my first cut I looked like I smoked cra*k) anyways not because I’ve spent years dieting, but because I learned how to build, fuel, recover, maintain, and then strategically diet.

My first cut was focused on losing weight.
Now I’m focused on building a physique I can actually maintain and continue improving.

You don’t have to live in a deficit forever to look your best!!! PLEASE EAT.

The goal isn’t to constantly get smaller. It’s to build something worth maintaining. by @amiyahwalkerr
