POSTS STORIES REELS

Amanda spent the past five years working in the UK on Gentleman Jack, Renegade Nell, Doctor Who and Riot Women. She’d built a strong career in Australia and the US, but this period marked the apex of her professional life - directing big-budget dramas.
More importantly, she made extraordinary friends.
Here they are gathered at the Garden Cinema in Covent Garden - producers, writers, DOPs, production designers, editors, executives, first ADs, script editors. As her dear friend @stellamerz
said: “All people who absolutely loved Amanda and wanted to celebrate her.”
@russelltdavies63 describes the event beautifully in his post. Thank you to Amanda’s UK friends for coming together for her. It means so much to her family in Australia. And I know she was there with you. by @amjabro

Happy birthday, sweetheart.
It’s two months since you left us, and it makes no sense that you’re not here.
So many people have reached out to tell me how much they loved and admired you. So much kindness has been shown to me, to your family, to your friends — and all of it is because of who you were and are.
I hope you’re happy on your journey. I hope you’re laughing, learning, puzzling — all the good things. Your spirit, your joy, your way of being in the world lives on, loudly, in all of us.
We’re sending you love, beautiful. by @amjabro

I’m so sad to tell you that today we lost our beautiful Amanda.
Most of you will know her feats as a director - Doctor Who, Gentleman Jack, Lowdown (which she also created), Renegade Nell and Riot Women - that she had a doctorate in linguistics, and was in the seminal 1980s band Not Drowning, Waving.
But her priority was to cheer on her friends and family. If you were a member of this group, rest assured, your successes brought her the greatest joy, and you were very, very loved.
When I first met Amanda, we talked for hours. I assumed she was just one of those remarkable people who got along with everyone. I was right. She did. But it turned out she liked talking to me too.
We had 23 wonderful years together. I would do anything to get one day back from any one of those years.
My beautiful girl, I will miss your love, your joyful laugh, your sense of adventure, and your bravery. You never met a spider or snake you didn’t like, always gently ushering them outside while I cowered in the corner. You cooked like you wrote and directed - with perfect balance, effortlessness, and a lightness of touch. I will miss your dhal, your roast chicken, your chilli con carne, your chocolate mousse. I will miss Sunday mornings on the couch, eating pancakes and watching Insiders.
You were right, I did have to make this about me.
Farewell, beautiful. You left the world better. But right now, it feels so much sadder. by @amjabro
