It’s funny how you can slow down one part of your life and two others speed up to balance it out. Along with repairing my relationship with creative work, I’ve been decentralizing Instagram as its conduit along with the narrow pressures it comes with to constantly feed a machine that doesn’t care one bit when we’ll be gone. And I’ve had no regrets whatsoever for all the time I spend offline while still creating, documenting, and sharing more intimately for the love of it. In fact, I’m loving it more than I have for years. At the end of the day, finding beauty in life and documenting it through artistic vision isn’t something you can contain or measure with silly metrics. It’s meant to be felt first. It isn’t something everyone gets, and luckily not everyone has to. What matters more than anything is that you stay true to yourself and your crafts. Lose that and you lose the humanity that we actually need more of. Anyways, here’s some recent favorite moments taken on a mix of Kodak Gold, Ektacolor 400 & 800. Been some time since I’ve gotten this excited about something and can’t wait to work with some of you! I’ve documented weddings in bucket list locations like Banff, Alberta and have been flown out as far as Australia to capture weddings, but over the years I felt like I just became more burned out than anything, with the lifestyle leaving a lot to be desired for my personal health, creative fulfillment, and social life. But it’s no secret that I’ve been making some life changes behind the scenes to see what documenting life and adventure looks like for personal and career fulfillment doing creative work. So bottom line is this: if you’re down to let me experiment and have some fun, I will document your wedding at half my usual rate for whatever package fits your day’s needs. I might shoot it entirely on 35mm film. I might shoot it all with a few point and shoots. But I’ll always bring the same sense of artistry and love for storytelling as I have in my best work. As I mentioned in the slides, I’m only able to take on a couple of these for now, and will prioritize only west and east coast weddings from now on. We had an hour to find good contrasts in texture, light, and subject. And we had fun with it. Times like these make me so insanely grateful for the people that I’ve found and those that have found me throughout life. From getting the chance to play with my dream camera for a week to pulling some of my dopest friends for a shoot highlighting Arc’Teryx’s Veilance line, so much always goes into everything aligning right. Long inspired by works such as Daniela Velasco’s in DRIFT Mag, I wanted to pay homage to a place that feels as essential to my sense of a home-city as Dolcezza. When I got the chance to play with the Leica Q3 43 for a week, starting the storytelling documentation of a place I love this dearly felt like second-nature- like writing letters to it through images. The reason I feel like coffee and photography go together so well is because they represent a pair of friends who respect and fuel the growth of each others’ crafts. We bond and share memories through both; each craft seeks excellence through play and mindful repetition. Wishing you all a beautiful start to the week! First of a new wave of work directed and shot for Nominal recently in New York with some good friends. Being able to pull Soraya as our talent was one of the best decisions— shoutout to her for biking 40 minutes to get to the train station in time that morning lol // The best month of the year is here and I hope that everyone feels the creative vitality that I do these days. Whether you bake, draw, garden, photograph, film, or craft, I think that creating with our hands is as human as breathing and offers a space of mindfulness when done intentionally. I’ve also been thinking about how we don’t need more AI— we need more analog moments with the humans often sitting across from us. Iceland was one of those places where no matter what you set as your destination, you’ll find 10 places on the way that might as well have been destinations on their own. And for a country so relatively small, it’s got such a magical way of putting you in scenes that make you feel so insignificant in the grand scheme of things. I say this in an endearing way of course. Black and white photography is a dialect of its own. I’ve got a deep love and appreciation for monochromatic moments, and want my take on it to always feel as intentional as the rest of my work. These are just the B&W moments from larger body of work that included colored images and plenty of filmmaking content that came together to tell a full story of this highflying trailblazer. I’ve been actively working on reframing my relationship with social media lately and part of that means getting back into the flow of sharing so much of my favorite work that I’ve been collecting on hard drives upon hard drives. If for nothing else, then at least to highlight meaningful concepts and stories that aligned brands are working to put in front of more eyes. These editorial style portraits were taken throughout a weekend of photographing and filming for Journeys, a series I was given the opportunity to ideate, direct, and execute for Nominal, one of the most value and energy-aligned brands I’ve worked with. Continuing sharing some fond memories of running around Mexico City with the Leica Q3 in one hand and a revolving roster of insanely good coffee in the other. Can’t believe it’s been a year since we were bopping around Mexico City’s cafes and finding patches of light to obsess over. I challenged myself to use the Leica Q3 for as much of the trip as possible and make the best of its powerful sensor and dynamic raw files and I’m thanking my past-self for doing that. There’s something special about these cameras and no matter what else I use (Sony, Fuji, etc), something keeps me gravitating back towards the Q series. Anyways, I’ll be sharing some of these in larger formats on story and updating my print shop with some imagery from this trip soon!
