My one photo from @onewheel Race For The Rail. Sunrise on race day morning. We produced a six hour live show on a burly Hollister Hills motocross track (link in bio). The riders kept it absolutely pegged all weekend long!

Big ups to Onewheel for supporting a racing league and championship featuring a great circuit and huge cash prizes. Coming from a whitewater racing perspective I sometimes don’t think these riders know how good they have it! Too many folks to mention who made it all happen. 🙏 to all who participated. by @amongst_it

Hazel experienced her first real call to adventure yesterday, just a tiny taste of expeditioning. It just goes to show that even on the easiest section of your home run, you never know what might be around the corner.

We took the right side of the island at Little Cove Creek and rounded the bend to find a river-wide log jam. I immediately yelled for everyone to catch the eddy. Jax, with a couple more years of experience under his belt, reacted instantly. Much to my surprise, Hazel was already on it. I was amazed with her focus, communication, and calmness in, as a parent, a pretty sketchy situation.

After a quick boat scout, I saw a wheelchair line on river right. The kids followed, but that is when the real action started.

A crew of teenage boys tubing came floating around the corner with no idea what was waiting for them. Before they knew it, they were right in the strainer. Their saving grace was being young, strong, and athletic enough to climb onto the pile of logs safely.

The kicker though, one guy lost his shoes and shorts, which Hazel promptly recovered and returned.

From experience I know that kid may forget who he was with, the weather, and even where it happened, but he’ll never forget the little girl who returned his shoes and shorts after the river tried to keep them.

One of the final, least glorious and backbreaking parts of Green Race is coiling up and dragging out the 4000 feet of fiber optic cable out of the canyon. This year we found a little surprise. A squirrel, rat or something chewed 5 of the 12 strands of fiber we use to beam the signal out of the canyon! It was hanging on by a thread, which is kinda symbolic to everything Green Race this year. Stoked it all happened though and really appreciate all the athletes for coming out and adapting, the live show viewers, sponsors, spectators and everyone who showed up for this last minute affair. The impact stretched way beyond the race itself as this river and the community around it needed a win. So many people who had written off the river were motivated to get back in there and found beautiful, challenging and fun whitewater. Especially at those midweek flows. I think everyone now realizes if we get releases at legit flows to pre storm the Green is still a gem! Proper shoutouts, highlights and more coming soon, but for now we’re going to take a couple days off. 🙏🙏🙏 by @amongst_it
