"สติ" (Sati)
Acrylic on birchwood panel, 90 x 120 cm

"สติ" (Sati), meaning mindfulness or awareness, represents consciousness. The blocks, whether read as rows of 3, clusters of 6, or 9, are consolidated at the center of the piece to symbolize the behavior of thought under focused observation: unified and less scattered. In practice, this state of gathered attention lets us experience what lies beyond thought.

"สติ" as a whole speaks of the Oneness that permeates our web of existence. Through the rise of each wave, we may perceive ourselves as individual entities, but as the veil of illusion lifts, we come to realize we are the same, one with nature, one with the earth, ocean, and each other. by @amonwanmirpuri

"Using art and everything else as a way to deepen the relationship with ourselves."

I used to adhere to an identity which I thought was appropriate for being an artist, but really, in a way, I was justifying the unhealthy choices and persona that were keeping me from growing.

While it can be absolutely monumental and healing to use pain as a source driving my work, I've found it doesn't need to come from an identity, and that those two things are separate.

I am allowed, and if anything, encouraged to do the self-work so that my craft doesn't always come from an attached identity. Instead, it can serve as a tool to help bring me closer to myself while I evolve with my work. I can choose how and from which space I want to create my work, and honor the stillness that births creativity, which may sometimes come with the inspiration of using pain.

A special thank you and gratitude to my dear friend and incredible artist @studioweissparis @klantanbkk for the relentless support. And of course @harrymtharper for capturing this so beautifully. I can't wait to create more with you 🤍 by @amonwanmirpuri

Without inner work, we grow up collecting baggage from the past, which becomes the pair of glasses we view the world through. It determines how we perceive and personalize our experiences, how we internalize made up narratives, stack them onto previously formed beliefs, perpetuating the loop of suffering and distortion.

What happens to us in our lives may not be our fault, but what we do with it is our responsibility. We owe it to ourselves and our wellbeing to hold ourselves accountable for how we show up because that in turn affects us, the quality of our lives, the people around us.

Blame and resentment keep us stuck in a position where WE give away the very power that would allow us to let go, grow, and be happy. It’s where WE give something or someone outside of us the power to hold us back from peace. It is a choice.

Freedom comes when we realize we don’t have to be held down by our past and by letting go of it, we can choose how we meet our experiences. We can then live from a space of seeing life unfolding for us, instead of happening to us. by @amonwanmirpuri

Sometimes in life, we don’t always get what we want. A lot of the time, rejection is redirection, a dead end is an invitation for recalibration, and a detour plays a significant part in our process. There is always a purpose for what lies beyond our control and always something we can learn from each moment, no matter how resistant we may be initially toward the outcome. More often than not, we’re only able to see what is presented in front of us, which only makes up an aspect of the whole. Sometimes it requires us to lean in and trust ourselves, trust the process, and let go of control, even and especially if it doesn’t make sense cognitively at the time—only for it to come together eventually and paint a full picture of why things had to unfold the way they did. And in those moments, we’ll often find that it was happening for us.

Love is felt and experienced, not seen.

You Are Poetry, 2025

"You are poetry,
unravelled by touch
in places the eyes cannot see.
For you lie in the rise of every moon
and dwell in the setting of every sun.
You are the breath of trees,
the blossom of every perennial vine,
winding yourself across every inch of me.
I am found in you,
for love isn’t known
without breathing your name." by @amonwanmirpuri

More often than not, we enter relationships carrying baggage from our past. These unhealed aspects may manifest when triggered, taking the form of fear, anxiety, insecurities, projections, unmet needs, or primitive defenses, which can lead to differences, such as arguments or conflict.

In these occurrences, it can be beneficial to pause, take a breath, inquire into the source of these feelings, and identify what‘s truly happening. Through collaboratively exploring the origins of these patterns in a constructive manner, we redirect our relational path, seeking ways to support each other through the process.

Choosing love and humility every time conflict arises allows us to move towards dismantling the ego that might lead to further separation, aggression, or violence.

With accountability and the healthy resolution of conflict, it can become a vehicle that brings us closer to our partners, strengthening the partnership. From this place, intimacy and connection deepen, fostering a harmonious relationship.

Creating space between the personalization of triggers, which often leads to narrative creation, and our actual experiences allows for clarity to emerge. In this way, we can use relationship triggers to address our past baggage and emotions, working at them from the present moment.

Sometimes, I think about how there is so much beauty to witness in the outside world, and yet, so much suffering within the human experience. It almost feels surreal and ironic that war, conflict, grief, heartbreak, and immense beauty can occur simultaneously. But I’d like to believe that such grandeur of beauty exists to serve as a reminder of the same beauty that reflects within us. If we are a part of nature, it would only make sense that the same beauty resides within us.

From mid-May to mid-August, I experienced an extremely challenging period. At times, I felt like I wouldn't be able to endure it. Other times, it made me question all the inner work I've done. Questions like "What is the point?" and "Why am I even alive?" frequently came up.

I spent days shifting from states of surrendering to resisting, fighting, breaking, being at war with how I perceived my surroundings, and believing my thoughts.

Everyday I came back to basics of returning to the heart, telling myself it's okay, letting go of the mental story and bringing my awareness back to the emotional body to feel it. No matter how many thousand times I drifted into a narrative, I'd seek gentleness.

And slowly but surely I began to find my feet again. I came up for air more frequently along with Joy.

Today I am entrenched in hopefulness for the unfolding of life. Reflecting on the lessons which came knocking often a few of which are 'this is temporary', 'thoughts are not an indicator of reality', 'our emotions create thoughts and by shifting out of that emotional state, our thought patterns change accordingly'.

Personally, to take away from my own experience, is to become aware whenever these thought patterns arise, remind myself that I don't have to believe it and that uncomfortable emotional/states and thoughts are fleeting.

It’s incredibly easy to see, in moments of despair, the suffering that paints our experience and that alone. In the midst of it all, we may find ourselves lost in the mental turbulence and emotional suffering that comes with the negative experience. At times, we may feel like it’s unbearable, too much, not knowing if we’re going to make it, fixated on what’s “wrong”.

But if we lift our heads up for air once in a while, we may find Love lurking around the corner reassuring its persistent presence, never having left in the first place. This may look like encouraging support from your loved ones, a mother’s comforting embrace, a smile from a stranger, or the wind running her fingers through your hair.

No matter what it is, life’s kindness always shows up in different ways. And if we can deliberately look for these signs of love and lean into her warmth a little bit more when times get rough, we can invite gentleness to come stay as we work through our processes.

So if you’re going through a difficult time, strewn in the humanness of it all, please know you’re not alone. Let this piece of writing be the reassurance you may need at this moment in time that you are loved and supported, and that Love is always with you.

And as a reminder that life happens for us, from a conversation with a dear friend @levisurge , “It’s the rough times that teach us the most about ourselves and reveal those deeper parts of our wounds we often try to distract ourselves from for healing.” 🕊

I’ve been exploring new styles of writing and this is the first time I’ve embarked on deliberately writing a creative piece outside the topic of consciousness and spirituality. This took a while to write but in the process of it, I’ve rediscovered how much love I have for language and words.

At first glance, this may seem like it could be about losing a lover but it’s about the yearning to hold on to life’s joyous moments for just a little longer. And that yearning eventually being overshadowed by the truth of time and the temporariness of all things.

Often times we think the more we are attached (holding on, not wanting to let go, resistances to allowing) to situations, people, or things, we’d be able to savor or cherish it more. But really that yearning, expectation, or attachments can come up to limit us from experiencing what is in front of us in its totality because what we would be experiencing instead is our own attachments to the situation, therefore deriving suffering from it.

Thank you to a dear friend and a great writer who wishes to remain anonymous. I owe it to her to guide, teach, and expand my horizons 🐔

Rigidity and seriousness.. Isn’t it ironic how more serious we take life, the more difficulty we may experience in the way we control things out of fear or uncertainty, have an idea of how things should be, how much importance we give a matter, or the self pressure we apply on ourselves to reach a standard of what we think is good enough.

When we can be forgiving and allow life to unfold the way it’s meant to while doing the best we can, we can give ourselves the space to relax in the knowing we can’t control everything. This can give us clarity to see life’s lesson that is meant to help us grow in a much more beneficial way than having our wants or desires met at the moment in time.

Loosening the grip of seriousness in our approach to life can allow for more ease and joy to become a natural part of our process. Doing so can allow us to be human, be okay with making mistakes, introduce gentleness while minimising the suffering we may experience from the stress or pressure we impose on ourselves.

We may realise more often than not the suffering we experience in our lives is self induced by how seriously we take our selves and thoughts when life can actually be met with much more ease than we might’ve thought and doesn’t have to be as serious as we make it to be.

The truth is we can still move forward, make progress, get things done while having an open and light approach to life. The more we can take a deep breath, pause, let go the need to control, fear, and seriousness, introduce kindness and gentleness, the more we can meet life with effortlessness, playfulness, and joy.
