There appears to be a misunderstanding 🫣

HEV (blue) light ranges from 390–500 nm and sits next to UVA/UVB in the light spectrum, with some overlap into the dermis. Natural blue light supports wakefulness by regulating melatonin.

Artificial blue light from LED screens has raised concerns. Research suggests it may generate reactive oxygen species (ROS), contributing to inflammation, pigmentation, premature aging, and possible retinal damage. Reports from France’s health agency (ANSES) have linked intense exposure to retinal stress and sleep disruption. The main risk appears to be prolonged, high-intensity exposure.

There is still debate about how deeply HEV penetrates and how damaging it truly is.

However, controlled blue LED (400–450 nm) is clinically useful for acne and certain inflammatory skin conditions.
