🎶 Hey there dysphagia, what's it like to be erased now...

🎶 We're a thousand days away, but girl, today, you swallow safely

🎶Yes, it's truuuue....

🎶 Look at what NMES proooooved

🎶 No trace of youuuu....

🎶 OHHHHHHH, it's WHAT Ampcare does to youuuuuuuu

We may not be singers and songwriters, but we ARE the founders of a proven, evidence-based swallow therapy protocol that is making the "impossible" fully possible!

This before-and-after MBS is of a teenager who was NPO with a PEG tube for five years...

Throughout those years, she tried traditional dysphagia therapy and VitalStim.

But nothing worked.

Then she found an Ampcare-certified SLP, and y'all...

Within ONE MONTH of Ampcare's Effective Swallowing Protocol, she could swallow again!

Stories like this one aren't rare.

That's why we made a song about it ;-)

The No. 1 question we get is "What's the difference between Ampcare and VitalStim?"

Honestly, a LOT.

Shoutout to Fatma, @nrsfatma the Ampcare-certified SLP (AND PT!) in Turkey, who sent us these videos to clearly show some of the differences.

The biggest difference is in the muscle movement you see in your patients. If we want to change their function, we HAVE to see muscle contraction.

Our parameters target the suprahyoid muscles - the small muscles under your chin that lift the hyoid bone during swallowing.

When ESP activates those muscles, the hyoid moves forward.

The larynx follows and the laryngeal vestibule stretches open.

Which is what you are seeing under FEES here.

MOVEMENT MATTERS!

This anterior movement of the larynx stretches the airway open, creating a resistance-based exercise when the patient swallows. THIS is how we speed up airway closure and protect the patient from aspiration.

Ready to help more patients reclaim their swallow function?

👀💙 If you've ever wondered whether a dysphagia treatment protocol is good enough to use on your own mom, meet Edna.

Her story is incredible.

We'll feature it in the near future, but here are some cliff notes:

🔹Edna is a medical SLP in Puerto Rico

🔹She got Ampcare-certified in 2024 and has had great success with her private clients with dysphagia.

🔹Her mom is a head and neck cancer survivor - completing both chemo and radiation.

🔹As we know, radiation is the "gift that keeps giving," meaning that fibrotic changes will continue to occur years after completing radiation therapy.

🔹Edna guided her mom through Ampcare's NMES, stretching, and exercise protocols.

🎉The improvements she and her mom have noticed have made them both lifelong believers in Ampcare 🙌

Save this post under "dysphagia therapy so good I'd use it on my own mom" - and as a reminder that you CAN use the appropriate NMES protocols on post-radiation head and neck cancer survivors. by @ampcare_esp

🫶 There's a REASON a PT and SLP founded Ampcare!

Eating and drinking is a full-body job.

👫 And with our powers combined...we can get these patients eating, drinking, sitting upright, and walking a lot sooner!

So, to all of the PTs out there who help patients return to eating and drinking...upright....

Thank you!

😈 Dysphagia HATES to see us coming....

The proof is in the pudding, y'all (and pizza, steak, thin liquids, etc etc etc....)

Ampcare works. SLPs wouldn't be so eager to share their experiences if it didn't.

They wouldn't feel so strongly about their stance on Ampcare, either!

From stroke to Bell's palsy to Parkinson's to post head-and-neck cancer.....and so much more in between...

Ampcare. gets. results.

Are you ready to bring those results to YOUR patients?

What does NMES do that sEMG can't?

Surface EMG is a great tool for tracking what a superficial muscles are already doing.

☺️ That's why it can works well for facial movement, where target muscles sit right at the surface.

👀 But for swallowing, the DEEPER muscles doing the real work often get lost under superficial signals.

Even a strong sEMG reading only reflects what the patient can generate on their own.

NMES works differently.

💪 Because electrical stimulation recruits MOTOR units in a nonselective, non-voluntary pattern, it activates more muscle fibers (including deeper ones) that a patient may not be able to reach through effort alone (Gregory & Bickel, 2005).

That's the layer Ampcare's ESP works from, y'all!

Pairing that added recruitment with resistive, task-specific swallowing exercise creates a genuinely more effortful, more challenging swallow than volitional effort alone can produce.

And the name of the dysphagia game is to CHALLENGE the swallow system, right?

Comment ESPTraining if you're ready to challenge your patients' swallow systems, and we'll get you started!

We're ready to help 🫡

🙎We have Ampcare NMES under fluoroscopy.....we have Ampcare NMES under FEES.....we have WILD before-and-after-Ampcare instrumentals....

And YES, we have the research (with more on the way)!!

Ampcare is NOT the same as other electrical stimulation protocols out there.

We use both sensory AND motor stimulation that target the correct muscles for swallow rehabilitation.

And we have the video evidence to prove it 😎

The ONE thing SLPs should know about sEMG 👇

It's NOT the same as NMES.

sEMG is a biofeedback tool.

It lets you and your patient "see" muscle activity on a screen.
It does NOT contract muscle, and it's NOT a treatment modality for dysphagia rehab on its own.

Ampcare's NMES, on the other hand, electrically stimulates the suprahyoid muscles (the group that lifts the hyoid and larynx during a swallow) to drive active muscle contraction as part of therapy.

So, the recap:
sEMG = watching the muscle work.
NMES = making the muscle work.

🎯Know the difference before you choose your tool!

Did you guess....

...FALSE?

🎉 If so, that's correct!

"E-stim" is a broad umbrella.

There are different types of electrical current, waveforms, parameters, electrode placements and therapeutic applications...all of which affect what the stimulation actually does to the body.

Ampcare ESP uses neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) with specific parameters and electrode placements designed to stimulate the muscles involved in swallowing.

📢That's especially important because we're working around the face and neck - not all E-stim can go on the face and neck!

You can't take just any e-stim device, use arbitrary parameters, place electrodes on the neck and assume it's doing the same thing or that it's safe.

That's why we have 8-10 hours of training and certification for Ampcare's NMES!

Ready to join the Ampcare NMES club (not E-stim club)?
