This cute little guy is a Sharpshooter in the family of Leaf Hoppers. This is Erythrogonia areolata and is no longer than a grain of rice. They have spring-loaded back legs and if they sense a threat they shoot off with incredible speed, basically disappearing into thin air. taken in San Miguel, Alajuela, Costa Rica by @amphibiologist

Four new species for me to celebrate Moth Week. Best guesses, in order by genus : Pseudophisma, Cropia, Anarmodis and with over/under shots Syllectra. Did you know that many moths are named after their larval/caterpillar stages because the adults are nocturnal and as a result, have been observed less often? taken in San Miguel, Alajuela, Costa Rica by @amphibiologist

Happy World Snake Day - This spicy noodle is the Banded sea krait (Laticauda semifasciata), a highly venemous amphibious snake with a paddle-like tail adapted for swimming. Although very mellow around humans and not known to attack, it still got the heart pumping when it turned around. 😳😳 taken in Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia by @amphibiologist
