"The pain that tears you apart can also produce beautiful effects in literature. Julieta Correa’s book achieves that beauty.” – Hinde Pomeraniec, Infobae

“Julieta Correa’s book is a record of her mother’s fall. At the same time, it is a search for clarity when everything is sorrow and confusion. A subtle grief that finds the exact words to explain the inexplicable.” – Noticias Perfil

“Like the protagonist of Gornick’s Fierce Attachments, Correa assembles the puzzle of her mother's life.” – O Globo

“Correa gifts us a text marked by an oral and low-key style that exudes elegance and tangibility. Above all, dynamism and humor [...]. Julieta Correa’s book is a tremendous text about the death of others and one's own [...]: surprising and dry, like a stroke of luck.” – Andrea Toribio, El País - Babelia

Memories, funny remarks, diary entries, fragments of medical reports, everyday scenes from the neighbourhood, bits of nonsense—Julieta Correa creates a collage resembling her mother's mind as it quietly slips away.

¿Por qué son tan lindos los caballos? (Why Are Horses So Beautiful?) is a story about dementia and caregiving, about language and writing as a shield against forgetting. Amidst a literary landscape often dominated by grief alone and estrangement between parents and children, Julieta Correa brings us a poetic book about life and the many ways love can reinvent itself.

Autofagia (Autophagy) by Mexican author Alaíde Ventura Medina has just been published in Italian by Polidoro Editore, following their translation of her award-winning novel Entre los rotos.

Autophagy draws us into a world of absences. A young woman arrives home and discovers that her partner has left. While waiting for her return, she obeys the strict mandate imposed by their relationship—to drink a lot of water and abstain from food—but as the hours go by, the silence begins to fill with voices.
Written in an agile prose that pierces the madness of anorexia, this novel portrays autophagy as both a physical act and a metaphor for a generation devouring itself.

If you loved Jeff VanderMeer's books or Cronenberg's movie Crash, you shouldn't miss Miles de ojos (Thousands of Eyes)!

In his latest novel, Maximiliano Barrientos draws on body horror and surrealism to tell a story set in a post-apocalyptic Bolivian landscape, where a sect worships speed and chases a muscle car considered the instrument for a summoning. Blurring the line between dream and wakefulness, Thousands of Eyes explores the merging of body and machine through an artful prose style.

The US edition (Counterpoint Press) will be released this October, followed by the UK edition (Pushkin Press) in early 2027.

Proslava (Celebration) by Croatian author Damir Karakaš is now available to Spanish readers via Galaxia Gutenberg. Translations have appeared in Italian, English (both US and UK) as well as several other languages.

Set in the harsh region of Lika, in Northern Croatia, it follows four moments in the life of Mijo: as a soldier hiding in woods and fighting for the defeated fascist regime, as a young boy in charge of eliminating his own dog, as a husband flirting with his wife while attending an official regime event, as an older man enacting a ritual of death with his father. Sensuous and laconic language, and the imposing natural world accompany the portrait of a conservative society rooted in violence.

This intoxicating and elliptical novel was also adapted into an acclaimed feature film in 2024.

Afonso Cruz delights readers with his new novel, A cozinheira do ditador (The Dictator's Cook), published by Companhia das Letras.

Besides preparing exquisite feasts to satisfy the tyrant's insatiable hunger, his cook must obey and bite her tongue. Yet, amidst her pots and pans, she is slow-cooking her vengeance—which, like the finest literary revenges, is a dish best served cold.

A cozinheira do ditador is a fun and mordant novel, as well as a treatise on the culinary arts and the fine craft of eating, seasoned with Cruz’s unfailing clairvoyance.

“Can a story serve as a refuge for those who stay behind? Can fiction repair what has been broken? Starting from a story of uprooting and migration, Lo que no vuelve gradually becomes an exploration of loss and the limits of writing.” – Clara Obligado

“With delicate and precise prose, Lo que no vuelve constructs an intimate landscape where memory and grief are, more than themes, motifs. A novel that is a love letter to the city and its ghosts, to a friendship that defies time, and to fiction as the only way of inhabiting what is lost.” – Daniel Saldaña París

“A beautiful story about uprooting.” – Página Dos

In springtime Buenos Aires, Hernán reunites with his childhood friend Milagros, whose family emigrated to Madrid during the 2001 Argentinian financial crisis. He has lost his father, while she has endured a different kind of mourning: the feeling of being uprooted. Their brief yet intense love story—born out of walks on the streets strewn with jacaranda flowers, deep conversations, and even deeper silences—will leave an indelible mark on Hernán, one that is stronger than the transient nature of memory.

With echoes of Juan José Saer, Lo que no vuelve (That Which Does Not Return) is a poignant meditation on the bonds between those who stay and those who leave, on the fragility of identity and memory, and on how language attempts to shape what has been lost.

What is a child? What remains of childhood once we grow up?

María José Ferrada explores these questions in her new work Apuntes sobre una enciclopedia mágica (Notes on a Magic Encyclopedia). Inspired by Walter Benjamin’s reflections on early life, and weaving together the voices of other writers and artists, Ferrada invites readers to consider the enduring power of the child’s gaze, and children’s literature as a form of resistance.

Part literary essay, part poetic memoir, part philosophical reflection, this book is an invitation to remember, imagine, and return to the territory of childhood.

Published in Chile, it is forthcoming in Spain and will soon be translated into Italian.
