My papa passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 22nd.

It’s impossible to even attempt to capture his brilliance and magic in words. He was a person you had to experience. And I feel so incredibly lucky that I was able to have had that privilege.

I am humbled by the life he lived, the people and communities he served, and the businesses he built.

My papa was such a gravitational force, so we all feel a bit lost with him gone. But he lived in such a spirit of Charikala and generosity that his buoyancy helps to carry us through this incredibly difficult time.

I turned my phone to grayscale so it's less engaging. I highly recommend you do the same. In iPhones go to Settings > Accessibility > Display Text & Size > Scroll down to "Color Filters", select and then check "Grayscale". It’s difficult to be limited to only words to try to capture Paola and the immense impact she has had on me and so many others. And I’ve struggled to accept that such an immense light is gone. Simply, she is the reason I am who I am today. I love her and miss her dearly. 🙏🏽

LA has 36K unhoused residents and over 93K vacant units⁣⁣

Shocked? So are we. What’s worse, LA is doing very little to address this very simple solution ➡️ Take empty homes and place people in them. Tax people for keeping houses empty. Penalize banks for keeping houses empty. Stop talking about shelters as housing. ⁣⁣
