My childhood bedroom had one poster. Just one. New York City.
I’d sit at my desk studying for hours, look up at it, and daydream about a version of my life that didn’t exist yet.
The first time I ever set foot in America, it was New York, a layover. I got one day. One day to walk streets I’d seen on my poster, in my favorite tv shows, I was in a country I wasn’t sure would ever have a place for me.

Then I flew out and went back to the uncertainty.

I came back once more, still carrying that same feeling. A visitor in every sense of the word.

This trip was different. I walked these streets with something I didn’t have before, hope, momentum, and a quiet voice saying you’re going to make it.

New York was my first glimpse of the American dream. It’s only right that it’s where I finally started to believe in it. by @amrokhier

Five years ago in Sudan, I decided to learn Spanish because I dreamed of one day speaking to my future patients in the U.S. in their own language.
At the time, I didn’t have a visa.
I had no guarantees that I would ever come here.
No proof that I would ever even get to use it.

Just belief.

Today, being able to communicate with my patients in Spanish, especially those who don’t speak English without the need for an interpreter fills me with a rare kind of pride. It still amazes me that a simple decision I made on a random day became my reality.

Alhamdulillah.

Trust the process. Trust Allah.
Sometimes your dreams may seem unrealistic or even “crazy” to others not because they are, but because not everyone carries your level of ambition or faith.

Stick with it. Do your best.
And Insha’Allah, what is meant for you will find its way to you not only by your effort, but by the blessing of Allah. by @amrokhier
