It’s time for an updated introduction post!

Hi, I’m Ange (A. M. Shilling), an indie author of horror, fantasy, and romance. In particular, I love writing about morally questionable people, their terrible circumstances, and how they manage to love one another despite it all. I finished the third draft of my vampire horrormance novella last night! I’m excited to take a well-deserved break for a few weeks so I can recharge my creative well. When I get back to it in November, I’ll be printing it out for line edits!

After tallying up my sales for September, I realized I’d sold 200 copies of THE DEVOURING, my debut novel, since publishing it this past April. Yes, that’s 200 copies in 6 months!

While I was writing and revising it, I thought to myself how great it would be if I could sell 10 copies. That’s how I would measure the book’s (and my own marketing’s) success. Everything that’s happened in the past 6 months has blown my expectations out of the water. Am I an overnight viral hit? No. Am I selling in bookstores nationwide? No. But 200 people decided to give my book a try. It has a rating of 4.70 stars on Goodreads and 4.49 stars on The StoryGraph.

I’ve never been prouder of myself, nor more grateful to everyone who’s helped make this dream come true. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

I had a fantastic time at the Local Author Fair hosted by @queentakesbook last night! I got to talk with a bunch of readers from the area, meet fellow authors like @madelinejameswrites, @mindycarlsonauthor, and @hcarpenterwriter, and sell my book.

Of the 10 copies I brought, I sold 6 during the two hours of the event—pretty dang good, if I say so myself. I also gave away a bunch of bookmarks and business cards, and got some newsletter sign-ups.

I can’t wait for the next event!

T-minus 3 days until my first ever bookish event and I’m testing my setup on the 2.5’x2.5’ space I’ve been allotted. Ignore the mess in the back! I’m also still not sure where I’m going to put the “no AI” sign... maybe taped to the edge of the table??

If you’re in the DMV area, stop by the @queentakesbook Local Author Fair on Thursday, September 24 from 6-8 pm at @cushwaradpiestaproom in Columbia, MD! RSVP at the link in my bio!

Few things are cooler than supporting indie authors and indie bookstores. That’s a fact. 🙂‍↕️
