RANDOM POSTCARD EDIT
Image 1- BRETTOS is the oldest distillery in Athens. It started operating for the first time back in 1909.

Images 2-7 are random, random, ramdom.

The last few images are from Alexandrakis, one of Athens’ oldest clothing emporiums, founded in 1860.
I felt like I had stepped back in time. Beautifully curated things and spaces that spoke of elegance. An unhurried sense of luxury that seems to have been lost to the age of shopping malls. There’s something so romantic about nostalgia. by @amupuri

I went to Medusa in Milos — the restaurant that went viral after Justin Bieber posted about it. I joined the queue at 11:15am to get a table when they opened at noon. If you arrive much later, you can end up waiting two hours. I don’t think there was a single local there. Just tourists like me, dutifully chasing the hype. And unfortunately, I think Medusa is exactly that: overhyped.

Because they don’t have any room to waste, I was seated at a tiny table with another solo traveller. Initially, I was annoyed that I had to share a table with a complete stranger. But that ended up being the best part of lunch. That and the cat that plonked itself on me unannounced. My lunch partner was an Asian Australian woman. We chatted nonstop stop about our travels and shared our food. Yay!

She ordered the octopus (Medusa is famous for it) and anchovies. I don’t eat Octopus because they are incredibly intelligent. I went for the waiter’s reco and ordered the swordfish skewers, which were juicy but boring. I also ordered fried feta in honey. It was yummy. The anchovies in lemon were pretty good too.The last slide has the infamous insta 🐙 shot which made me glad I didn’t eat it.

Heads up, the service was curt. And once they punch in your order, you CANNOT change it. There was something almost McDonald’s drive through like about the whole operation. Wait your turn, order, eat, move along. Was it worth queuing for 45 minutes before the restaurant even opened? No. But sharing a tiny table with a complete stranger totally was. by @amupuri

I’ve been meaning to do a food post on my trip but I got lazy. This was undoubtedly one of the best food+ travel experiences I have had. The produce quality, the versalality and the favours 🤌🏻
Plus the seafood in the Greek islands. Best shrimp linguine I have had in my life. by @amupuri

Go on that solo trip. Part ll: 123..Jump

Watch me tryyyyyyy to jump off the famous cliffs at Sarakiniko in Milos.
I wondered about the logistics of leaving my backpack with all my stuff and going cliff jumping since I was TRAVELLING SOLO. I definitely didn’t think I would get a video of me jumping. But this very sweet Indian couple I requested took a video while I mustered up the courage to jump. I’m a little 🤏 afraid of heights so it took some warming up.

P.S.- It was pretty cool that complete strangers were cheering for me and telling me they would jump with me. It made me feel like I was not alone at all. 🫶🏻😍 by @amupuri

Go on that solo trip. Part 1: Stop waiting.

I had never travelled internationally on my own for more than three nights. I love travelling, but as a single woman, I often find myself wishing I had someone to share the experience with or waiting for the right company. Greece had always been on my list. I love the sea and swimming, and I would spend hours looking at photographs of the beautiful blue water on Instagram, wishing I could be there.

This summer, I decided I wasn’t going to wait for anyone. I was going to take myself exactly where I wanted to go. I was apprehensive and a bit nervous about the trip so I kept it simple and not too long. I spent a couple of nights in Athens before taking a three and a half hour ferry to an island in the Cyclades.
And I had the time of my life.

There were moments when I genuinely had to pinch myself. I couldn’t believe I was actually there, swimming in that impossibly blue water, standing in the picture-perfect places. Of course, there were difficult days. Things went wrong. But none of that took away from the experience.It turned out to be one of the best things I’ve ever done. I’m so glad I didn’t wait.
