⭐️ WHAT FRESH LUNACY IS THIS?!⭐️

What an absolutely wonderful Saturday night! First stop was dropping in to @bodeganotts to see the lovely @stiffkittensdj put on a special spooky edition of of her fantastic audio-visual show @kittyarama, matching a suitably spooky Halloween-friendly playlist with appropriate projected visuals - lovely to catch up with some great friends there too, there was serious party vibes going on! Then it was just a turn around the corner for the late showing @broadwaycinema of the restored and remastered edition of Ken Russell’s The Devils - this restoration, and cinematic release, is a huge moment for British cinema and I’d urge anyone to get to see it on a big screen this week if you can!
Thank you all for a fantastic weekend!

⭐️ HOCKLEY HUSTLE 2026 - THE I’M NOT FROM LONDON STAGE @ ANGEL MICROBREWERY ⭐️

Last Sunday was the 20th edition of the annual @hockleyhustle festival , and I knew that DIY PR legends @imnotfromlondon were guaranteed to provide some great sets with their stage @theangelmicrobrewery. Here’s a couple:

@pollypikpocketz - (Photos one and two) Well, here’s how to bring some life to a Sunday afternoon! These make a glorious , vibrant noise which holds the audience right in their hands, mixing a sense of fun with real substance - and what a wonderful front woman @pocket_punk is! With a sound as bold and bright as their look (couldn’t resist changing from my usual gig photos and capturing these guys in colour), they are ones to watch for sure

@moon_bullet_band - (Photos three and four) Well, don’t Moonbullet just keep getting stronger, tighter and moving onwards and upwards? Fresh off the back of their excellent E.P “Brown Sauce”, the deeply entertaining quintet definitely write huge stompers on often-niche subjects and sounded at their absolute best on Sunday 💫

Happy birthday to my Grandad, who turned 99 today! (Pictured here with me last Christmas) This gives me the perfect prompt to share a story of his with you that I think is really important:

He was a proper Just William type as a kid and while messing about one day, he pierced his foot on his spike (yes, I immediately thought of Alan Partridge too…) The way to get this treated was to make his way to the doctor… with ten shillings to pay, as, in a situation beyond the imagination of most of us, the NHS had yet to exist! So treasure it, appreciate it, and imagine the country before it!

⭐️REVENGE OF CALCULON ALBUM LAUNCH GIG @ ROUGH TRADE NOTTINGHAM⭐️

Revenge of Calculon were brilliant as always at Rough Trade Nottingham for the launch gig of their album “Welcome To Funktronika”. Their signature futuristic electro-funk sounded more squelchy and juicy than ever, aided and abetted by an audience fully in the zone with some excellent dance moves on show. There really is no experience more fun than a Revenge of Calculon gig (as you can see from slide 2!) and I’d strongly recommend checking them out when you can. Thank you all!

“Poetry is just the evidence of life. If your life is burning well, poetry is just the ash” - Thank you for sharing your ash with us, Leonard Cohen (born this date in 1934) ❤️

It’s been a while since I’ve done a sustainable fashion post , largely because I haven’t bought anything in a long time (apart from gym kit, if anyone actually wants to see my charity shop finds there) , but thinking about it that raises something else - the idea that we always need new outfits for things, especially in the social media age. For example every time I mention going to s wedding, someone asks if I’m buying a new outfit - when chances are, I’m wearing this dress. Sustainability isn’t just about about buying second hand; it’s about returning to the same things in your wardrobe and having faithful staples. This dress isn’t second hand - it was a sale find from @collectifvintage - but it’s the same one that always comes out for events like weddings. Keep repeating, rewearing and having those go-to’s!

⭐️ AND THE SOUL IS FOR THE BIRDS - CHICO DA SILVA @ NOTTINGHAM CONTEMPORARY ⭐️

Really in love with “And the Soul Is For the Birds”, the Chico De Silva exhibition @nottm_contemp . It is wonderful a an exploration of the Brazilian artist culture and heritage , and I just absolutely love the aesthetic which struck me immediately upon entering each room. It’s on for one more week - here’s a couple of my favourites from it

⭐️ HTDJ - August 2026 Edition ⭐️

Had to upgrade this one from Stories! The third Saturday of the month means it’s time for @stiffkittensdj indie disco #htdj @bodeganotts giving us a great opportunity to chat everything from books to world politics to, on a deeply detailed level, the aesthetics of various biscuits … and of course with an amazing vinyl soundtrack of all the indie and alternative deep cut gems you don’t necessarily hear anywhere else! Thank you for a lovely evening ❤️
