#giftedcollab I was super excited that @tanghulutanghulu invited me to taste their menu, particularly with their recent launch of (their version of) the viral Dubai Chewy Cookie! 🍪👀😯Thank you again to Tanghulu Tanghulu for their invite and kind hospitality! 🥰💗#freetasting

Here’s my review:
@tanghulutanghulu has many locations in large shopping centres in Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area (their locations are listed in their IG bio), but my experience centred around two locations: predominantly their Square One (Mississauga) location (for the tasting) and, very briefly, their Vaughan Mills location (to film their menu, which I forgot to do 😅). 🚘📍🗺️ For these two locations at least, it’s an order-pickup-go situation—perfect for enjoying as you make your rounds at the mall. 👌

First, we tried the various tanghulu (i.e., a traditional Chinese street food of fresh fruit covered in a crunchy, hard sugar shell)—including the classic Strawberry 🍓, the citrusy Clementine 🍊, tropical Pineapple 🍍, Green Grape 🍇, and berrylicious Blueberry 🫐! (Together, a fruity rainbow! 🌈😋). My favourite tanghulu was definitely the Green Grapes, which were so big and round, and gave the perfect balance of tart and sweet for me with the sugar syrup coating. 🍇🤩

Next up is probably my personal favourite from their menu: the Coco Cups (i.e., a cup of fresh strawberries, bananas, or a mix of both with, per their menu, “warm melted 100% Belgium chocolate”)! 🤩I tried it with two different toppings—cookies n cream and biscoff—and both were delicious and paired well with the fresh, fragrant strawberries; shredded coconut; and warm, rich chocolate. 🍓🍫🍪🥥🤤

A ✨gorgeous✨ Lemon Meringue Tart 🌼🍋🥧 from @niagaraparks ' Table Rock House Restaurant, garnished with a lovely lil' edible pansy from their neighbouring Botanical Gardens. 🌈🌊🌞

I typically do not prefer lemon-flavoured baked goods, but this tart was exceptionally balanced in taste (the right amount of tartness and not too sweet) and show-stopping in presentation. 😍 Looking at this photo, and remembering this experience, makes me desperately wish for 🌷spring🌷 to come sooner, especially as that is my favourite season to visit Niagara Falls proper.

I will definitely be posting more dishes from this lovely restaurant soon. It is one of my favourite dining experiences of all time—exceptional food, service, and view of the Falls. 🥹💗🤩

#collab Located in @metro.square (Warden/Steeles intersection in Markham) is a long-time gem of a Hong Kong-style café, @metrosquarecafe! ☕️😃🍽️ I’ve been here countless times for breakfast in my childhood, but from what I can recall, never for dinner. So, we had to check their dinner options out! 👀

Immediately, we were intrigued by the “Set Dinner” menu, which looked to be such good-value—including soup, salad, garlic bread, coffee/tea, and a high-protein main served with fried rice or spaghetti (YESSS ALL OF THAT) for less than $31.00! 😲🍲🥗🍞☕️🥩🦐🍝🍚🤩 We ordered set dinners C (i.e., Salmon Steak, Shrimp & Scallop in Dill Cream Sauce on Hot Plate) and F (i.e., Beef Tenderloin & Salmon Steak on Hot Plate), both of which featured generous portions, especially of main protein(s), and so many savoury, tasty components. 👏🤩 My favourite parts of the set dinners were the Soup of the Day (which was absolutely nourishing, hearty, and comforting) and Set Dinner C, with its delicious dill cream sauce that paired well with the seafood and spaghetti, as well as the tasty grilled zucchini pieces under the proteins. 😋 Their ham, corn, and potato salad was also such a unique medley of flavours! 🙌 On top of that, the service was super friendly, accommodating, and considerate, which we always love. 💁🏻‍♀️☺️💕

☝️‼️💡 The only thing, though, that I would like to give y’all a heads-up about is that the salmon steak has bones in it, so if you aren’t good at “suen kwut” (i.e., from my mediocre C.B.C. Chinese<->English translation skills, Cantonese for “discerning/sucking bones [from the meat]”), I recommend you try the other set dinners, other than C and F. 🙂‍↕️ Personally, I’m fine with bones but I know some people who will only have boneless/fileted fish.

Overall, I’d highly recommend you check out the “Set Dinners” @metrosquarecafe if you’re hungry and want a tasty, good-value meal (and maybe even some leftovers for later)! 👍😁

#collab Recently, I learned about a new Korean-style fried chicken place—@dongfriedchicken—in First Markham Place’s iconic food court and was invited to taste their menu! 🍗🐓🔥

First, we tried both their “Signature Bowls,” which come in a promotional combo of the 2 bowls (i.e., the Cheese Chicken Cutlet Bowl and the Dong Fried Chicken Bowl) + 2 pop for $19.99 (originally $11.99 per bowl)! 😲🍚🍟🥗🍗🥤✌️Of their nine flavour options, we chose to try the “Hot Spicy Cheese” and the “Onion & Cheese” flavours, which I must say are my favourites of the four we tried. 🤩🙋🏻‍♀️ The bowls are generously packed with crispy chicken (along with your sauce of choice), steamed rice, fries, and salad—making for a good-value, nice and filling meal (for two)!

We also had their “Freshly Fried Chicken,” opting for the 2 flavour option for 12 pieces of fried chicken ($18.99). We chose to try their most popular “Super Cheese” flavour, which was pleasantly tangy, salty, and sweet. 👍💁🏻‍♀️🧀 I also tried the “Golden Honey Butter” flavour, which had an intense sweet, honey-mustard-like flavour—but honestly, that particular flavour was not for me. ✋🙅🏻‍♀️

This is the “Kake Udon - Regular size” ($7.99) + Combo including a can of pop and (my choice of) a side of 2 pcs of shrimp tempura ($4.99) from @hinode.udontempura in @myrichmondhill! 🍜🍥🍤 This was such a simple, well-executed, good-value meal—highly recommend if you want warm Japanese food on a budget! 🇯🇵👛✨What definitely makes this dish is the broth—the katsuobushi dashi (dried skipjack tuna soup broth) has a hearty and addictive, sweet umami taste! 🐟🍲😋 The shrimp tempura was different in that the batter was uniquely light and airy, while also giving the *cronch.* 🍤 Will be back!

#collab As the weather is getting chillier here in Toronto, I’m craving warmer comfort-food dishes, especially Cantonese cuisine! 🍲🥢🥰 Recently, I tried out another Cantonese restaurant in Richmond Hill (just a few blocks past Commerce Gate), @thebigbrothertoronto—which, in passing, I’ve noticed because it’s frequently packed! 👀😯😎 Even outside the restaurant, you’ll notice that the restaurant’s ambiance and decor are absolutely stunning, warm, and inviting—perfect for family and reunion dinners (and everything in between). ✨🤩💁🏻‍♀️

As for the food: we started our meal with a hearty and nourishing “Morels, Dried Conch, and Chicken Soup,” which was delightfully warming and comforting—I’d love a pot of this soup if I’m ever feeling ill or under the weather! 🥰🍲😌Then, we tried the “Soy sauce Country-Style Lotus [Root] with Minced Pork Mini [Sandwiches]” (yes, that was a mouthful lol 🤭)—which was, no cap, the best bite I’ve had in a while! 🤤🤩 You get the refreshing *crisp-cronch* and salty-sweet earthiness of the caramelized lotus root, along with the soft, tender savoury minced pork in the middle; the mild oniony fragrance of the scallions; and the umami of the sauce—a truly sensational dish in my books!

Next, we had the “Pan-fried Green Pepper and [Homemade] Fish Paste (6 pcs),” which is one of my favourite Cantonese street foods—and @thebigbrothertoronto does it well. 👍 If you’re not familiar with this dish, here’s your warning: you’re basically playing spicy roulette 🌶️🥵🎰 because some peppers are extremely spicy and some are not at all. 😂🥹😋 For me, either way you get a very sweet-savoury, umami bite that keeps you going back for more.

#collab We’re venturing further into Richmond Hill in search for some *new-to-me* good food places. This time, my lovely bestie and I tried out @thaibasilrichmondhill, located in the plaza at the NE corner of the Bayview Ave./Major MacKenzie Dr. E intersection. 🇨🇦🇹🇭🚗🕵🏻‍♀️🕵🏻‍♀️💨

When you first walk into the restaurant, you’ll notice that the space is beautifully and festively decorated—the first thing I thought was “gosh, this place makes for a beautiful spot for a date night!” 🇹🇭💖✨Overall, the service was friendly and fairly speedy, and presentation of their drinks and beverages blew us away! 🌬️😍🤯🌈✨Truly, this is a great spot for the foodies to capture the *perfect* shots for “Foodstagram.” 📸🤳🍜

First, we ordered the “Thai Appetizer Platter A , For 2,” which included the most amazing shrimp cakes (much like stuffed crab claws in Cantonese dim sum, these shrimp cakes are deliciously crispy on the outside but soft and meaty on the inside—my fave! 🤩), spring rolls, and grilled skewers; I highly recommend the appetizer platters if you want to try multiple! 🍤🍢🥘 For our mains, we decided on their “Pad See Ew (with Chicken)” (i.e., a stir-fried rice noodle dish that was a delightful balance of sweet, tangy, and savoury, and a fun medley of textures from the noodles, chicken, and various vegetables) 🍝🍗🥬, as well as their “Signature Boat Noodle” (i.e., another one of my faves 🤩—it’s a wonderfully savoury beef rice noodle soup dish that is, to me, very similar to Vietnamese Pho, and it has the most comforting broth). 🍜🌶️🌿 For drinks, we had their (non-alcoholic) “Thai Iced Tea,” which was flavourful and STRONG (it really wakes you up… 😃) , and their “Thai Mojito,” which is visually stunning (with its purple to clear gradient), sweet, and refreshing. 🥛🧋😋🍹🌿 Overall, a great meal, to say the least.

This is the cheesy “Meat Lasagna” that *actually comes with* a Caesar salad ($21), from @portlypiperoshawa: a great pub in the @cityofoshawa! 🧀🍝🥗🤭 (It’s my go-to order! 🙌). The other dish is their “Chicken Pot Pie” with the choice of mashed potatoes as the side ($20). 🥧🥔✨I’ve done a full review of another location—@portlypiper in @townofajax—in an Instagram post back in mid-February 2026, if you are interested. 😉

#collab In the mood for good-value, authentic, and cozy Chinese comfort food in Toronto/GTA? 👀😋🥢 Look no further than @thebigcasserole 🥘—located 📍(in the plaza) in the NW corner of the Leslie St./Major MacKenzie Dr. E intersection in @myrichmondhill!

I’ve actually been here once before this collab, and I just had to re-order the soup that lives rent-free in my mind: the “House Chicken with Pork Stomach (Soup & Meat Only option)” ($18.99)! 🍲🤩🤤As you can see in the reel, it’s loaded with pieces of chicken, pork stomach, and cabbage, which are super delish when dipped in the sweet soy sauce and/or ginger–scallion oil that come with the soup. 😋And while I prefer the “Soup & Meat Only” option, you can also choose to add “Rice Noodles, Fresh Egg Noodles, [or] Instant Noodles” at no extra charge (but fish noodles are +$2 and steamed rice is +$3.50)! 😊🍜🍲 Couldn’t recommend this dish enough! 😋

Next, we had to try one of their signature clay pot rice dishes—and we opted for the one topped with “Dried Silver Fish with Pork Ribs” ($18.99)! 🍚🍖🐟It arrives at your table steaming hot and is a huge portion to share or to take home for another meal. 🔥😁👏 Super savoury, filling, and comforting—and you get some tasty crispy-crunchy rice bits if you scrape the pot edges! 😄 I also love some good “Pan-Fried Dumplings” ($12.99) 🥟🥟🥟👀—so we had to order those—and the “Chef Special Sauce Fried Pork Belly with Lettuce Leaves” ($18.99) was kinda like K-BBQ without all the work (and who doesn’t like that? 😂🫰).

Well, what are you waiting for? Go check them out! 🥘🚙💨
