One year ago today, I was woken up at 6am by a doctor telling me my mom needed to be transferred to the ICU to intubate her. She said the ICU doctor would update me after the procedure. At 7am the ICU doctor called. She was gone. She died in the elevator on the way.

The last year has been a lot of crying, cleaning and appreciation for who Dale Friedlander was - and is in my heart and the hearts of those lucky enough to know her.

I was struck in this picture how much we looked alike. And struck by how much I’ve patterned my life after hers. I can only hope to love as fully and as generous as she did. I miss her every day ❤️ by @amyfriedlanderhoffman
