I almost binned all of my swim kit. ‘I’ll take up badminton…or something…!’

My last big swim had me questioning it ALL.

So I’m drawing a much needed line under my 2026 Swim Season!

Autumn is here, and in my head, that means dipping, coffees, a slab of cake, and turning off the constant state of ‘pushing for more’.

It was my 1st swim in a month, and I was focussing on:

-What shade of green is that water?

-Looking at the bubbles surrounding my hand as it enters the water. They look cool.

-Remembering that swimming doesn’t have to be a battle all the time… I am allowed to take it slow and turn off the need to achieve a certain pace or distance. For too long I’ve been hanging onto “If I’m not swimming at X pace, I’m not going to make it” and it’s getting on my tits 🤣

My hormones and mood are aaaaalllll over the place, so I’m taking time to sort that out. But step by step I’ll get there :)

The last swim of their season was brutal and almost broke me. I booked it as a ‘fun swim’…that’ll teach me 🙈

I’ve arrived in Autumn in a handbrake turn and a cloud of smoke, and my hair on fire, but I’m here.

I showed up when I didn’t want to. I got my head down and kept going when I could have got out. I finished what I started, when I was sooo close to getting out.

Well done to every swimmer, whether your season went great, or ended with a ‘delayed success’.

Time to rest, time to regroup, and time to be kind to yourself for pushing all this time xx
