This is our urban Red fox vixen who I call Lucy. She is still keeping her kits safe and sound in their den (born around late Jan/early March). She is an intelligent, regal, fierce, and stealthy Mother. My daughter and I moved back to Kensington over three years ago to move in with my parents during the pandemic. It was such a stressful time for all of us in terms of adapting and dealing with my Dad’s Lewey body dementia. Lucy and her family (parents and siblings) were such blessings during these times. We watched them play, hunt, and grow. They were a gift to us as we looked forward to seeing them roam our neighborhood each day and night. I have gained so much respect for the Urban Red fox as they have acclimated to living beside us and help keep our rodent population under control. They pose little threat to dogs and cats and I have seen our neighborhood cats actually follow Lucy around. I hope to see her kits emerge in the coming weeks and look forward to that lovely day🦊

Plump, sweet, and newly fledged Red-throated hummingbird takes a rest this morning on a fiery red Crocosmia plant. He was sticky that tongue out after feasting on nectar. This little Brown-headed Nuthatch and its mate were too sweet to watch. They found a cavity of spiders and were so proud of their prized catches. This one hopped around for five minutes showing off with its snack while chirping away like a squeaky toy to its mate. Always entertaining to watch 🤎 @canonusa
