Welcome to March Meet the JewelryMaker.

But first… do you really know who I am?

Hi, I’m Amy — an enamel artist working with powdered glass, copper, and fire to create one-of-a-kind jewelry.

My journey began ten years ago in a classroom, surrounded by jars of brilliantly colored powdered glass. I learned how to use the flame of a torch to melt and fuse glass onto copper, transforming simple materials into luminous pieces with a smooth, glassy finish. In that moment, a whole world of possibility opened up — color, texture, shape, and endless experimentation.

Ten years later, I’m still completely in love with this art form. I’m still exploring. Still experimenting. Still inspired.

What do I love most about working in enamel?
• The challenge
• The endless possibilities
• The beauty
• The quiet, reflective moments
• Getting completely absorbed in creating
• Making jewelry that others can cherish and enjoy

Throughout March, I’d love for you to follow along and learn more about my creative journey — what inspires me, how I create, and the heart behind the work.

Thank you to @therealtonyadavidson for making March Meet The Jewelry Maker possible!

✨ It’s March Meet the Jewelry Maker — Show Your Studio Day! ✨

Today I’m inviting you into my creative space — the place where every piece of my jewelry is brought to life from start to finish.

This is where ideas turn into something tangible. Where I work with my hands, my heart, and my soul. It’s where I hammer and shape metal, experiment with color, and melt powdered glass with a torch or kiln.

It’s the space where creativity takes over and I completely lose track of time.

It’s also where I’m free to make a mess — where my hands get dirty, gritty, and my apron gets covered in the evidence of creating.

This little studio, with all its tools is where my passion lives.

Thank you for stepping inside my world today. I’d love to know — what is your passion?

Shout out to @therealtonyadavidson for organizing and guiding #marchmeetthejewelrymaker #studioday #behindthescenes #enameljewelryartist #meetthejewelrymaker taken in Rochester, Minnesota by @amyjohnsonenamels

It’s March Meet the Jewelry Maker– Show Yourself Day, so I guess it’s my turn to step in front of the camera! 😊

I have been living in Rochester, Minnesota for the past 40 years, and 34 of those years have lived in the same home. My family is everything to me. I believe in holding on them tight, We never know what tomorrow will bring. Life changed suddenly in 1999 when my husband passed away at the young age of 36, leaving me to raise our 7-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son. Being a single mom was a very hard road, but today my children are now incredible adults who make me so proud. ❤️

For the past 21 years I have been working full time as a phlebotomist at the world renowned Mayo Clinic here in Rochester. (yes… I’m very good with a needle 😉).

Creativity has always been how I process life's ups and downs.
Before jewelry I was a quilter and an avid gardener—always drawn to color, texture, and beauty in the little things. Now I get to bring that love of color into my enamel jewelry, and it brings me so much joy. ✨

And of course there’s Maisie 🐾—my love...She is a silly, playful Westie who keeps life full of laughter.

Now, I’d love to get to know you!
Tell me: Where are you from and what do you create?

I was so happy to have my jewelry at Squashblossom Farm’s AwesomeFest 2026 and be part of such a special day!

Susan and Roger open their farm to the community throughout the summer, and their fall AwesomeFest is such a beautiful celebration of everything they love—artists, music, wood-fired pizza, mead, farm animals, and most of all, bringing people together. 🎨🎶🍕🐐

They are two truly wonderful people who have created something pretty special at Squashblossom Farm. I’m grateful to have been a small part of it! ❤️

How cool is this?! 🎨✨

A t-shirt dress created by Jenna Viehauser, made from past Austin ArtWorks Festival T-shirts! And those adorable polymer clay earrings by Lisa Dunlop are the perfect finishing touch.

And that incredible beaded necklace featuring the ArtWorks Festival logo—I don’t know who created it, but WOW! 😍

I love seeing the creativity and spirit of this amazing festival carried into wearable art. So much talent, color, and Austin ArtWorks love all in one place! ❤️

Thank you, Austin, for another fantastic year! I’m already looking forward to coming back in 2027! 🎨💙🧡

What if your earrings could carry a little color, movement, and meaning wherever you go?

Modeled by my friend Becky Schlegel, these handcrafted enamel dream catcher earrings feature vibrant turquoise accented with warm orange, gold, and earthy-toned beads. Their enamel feathers sway gently as you move, adding a playful touch of color and light.

Originating with the Ojibwe people, the dream catcher is traditionally believed to filter dreams—welcoming good dreams while catching negative ones. The feathers symbolize gentle, positive dreams drifting downward.

Wear them as a meaningful reminder to hold onto the good and release the negative, or gift them to someone special as a beautiful token of hope, protection, and joyful dreams.

Come see my dream catcher earrings next weekend, August 29 and 30, at the Austin Art Festival in downtown Austin, Minnesota.
