Life is truly humbling 🙃
One week ago a song I worked on was released by @davidguetta @johnmartinofficial and @thirdpartylive The next week i’m frantically scraping children’s stickers off the wall, in the chaos of moving house.

I’ve been writing songs for many years. This was a real milestone for me and a big honour to know that this song is loved by this mega team and on dance floors far and wide. Enjoy! by @amyjpryce

About 3 months ago I decided I simply could no longer bear how little I was singing! Amidst the hustle of daily life, a major source of joy was dwindling. I sought out a singing teacher to get back into it, found the most beautiful inside and out teacher @singingwithcore and last week sang at her Lisbon mic sessions event. To sing some covers, sing some original music, was really cool. But more amazing was to sit in the room with other singers and musicians and ESPECIALLY to receive the energy of Brasileiro music. 🥲🥰 by @amyjpryce

Last week my latest co-write ‘Hold Me’ came out on @armadamusic @asotlive.

It’s been supported by dance industry heavyweights @aboveandbeyond and @arminvanbuuren which is amazing and also makes me laugh a bit - making music doesn’t come easy to me these days, I REALLY fight for the time.

Working on this track it was often 9pm having finished a full day of work and putting two toddlers to bed, on the back of 4 hours sleep the night before. But if I get a text to try and write something and I love the project, you know I will.

Label release or not and with the many obstacles in my way, in some capacity I’ll always make music. It doesn’t seem to be a choice, more like a deep itch that never goes away. (And I hope it never does).

BUT in the hundreds of songs I’ve made that will never be heard, it’s really nice that this one has found a good home.

My wish for you if you are reading this, is to have your own small victories in your creative pursuits too.

Find that thing that is just for you and give yourself to it when you can.

This year will be the first Christmas I’ve spent out of London in my whole entire life. From newborn to full grown adult. Feels very strange actually.

But I’m enjoying this new season of parent life. Mainly because you try getting two spirited boys out of nappies at the same time. YOU CANT TELL ME NOTHING!!

But also because here I am, I can dip in, zip around, get to sessions, work, eat with friends, stomp around a dancefloor on my own for an hour with a half pint and even get a lie in past 7am. I value these things immeasurably now. Equally, sitting on the tarmac at LHR in this moment I can’t wait to hug my babies. So off I go.

Ok bear with me on this one…. When I was a child I would surf with my dad and throw myself under freezing waves (in the winter, in Devon). I would perform whole dancing shows for my cousins visiting from India, I dreamed really big and had an answer for everything !! Then somewhere along the way - I learned fear (fear is learned, I know this now because my toddlers have NONE lol). I had to grow up fast. Life happened. Sometimes I retreated. Sometimes later on my mental health got bad, or comparison thieved my joy (You hear me, scrollers??). I got scared of the sea and stopped singing as much. We all have that, I know life ebbs and flows. But on Friday I had this day where I ran into the sea with an empty mind and spent the afternoon writing songs, and I guess what I’m trying to say is I’m trying to get back to that inner child because it is a good feeling and it makes me really sad the idea that so many of us lose touch of that over time. But I believe it’s never too late and I think baby me in her 101 Dalmatian’s dress with her Spice Girl dolls would thank me for trying to claw her adult ass back to that simplicity. by @amyjpryce
